Mets fan, what would you guys want for Span or Willingham?

If the Mets offered you guys Jeurys Familia(pitcher, 23, 2nd rated prospect according to mlb.com could start for you guys now); Michael Fulmer(8th rated prospect, 19 y/o starter, ETA 2015), and Rafael Montero(22 y/o starter, 9th rated prospect, ETA 2015) for Span, would you take it?

More importantly, what type of prospects/young players are you looking for Span/Willingham?

It would be a very tempting offer for the Twins but I think we would push for something along the lines of Jon Niese and Familia for Span and maybe a mid tier prospect. Would the Mets have interest in that?

That would probably be a fair trade, but seeing as both Span and Willingham have very team friendly contracts and are great clubhouse guys, the Twins may be inclined to demand an unfair trade since there really is no reason to move them other than to recoup some prospects.

Your suggestion is probably fair, but I don't know if any of those pitchers are better than what the Braves, Reds and Rays could offer if the Twins were able to drum up multiple suitors for Span and Willingham. I think I speak for most Twins fans (and the front office better agree) that the Twins need to get quality, not quantity if they move one of the two. I'd probably prefer just one of the Braves, Reds or Rays hard throwing young arms as opposed to getting three less talented arms from the Mets.

Thats probably a pretty fair offer for Span. I really like Fulmer. Another guy I like is Mejia. And obviously Familia has quite a bit of potential. Of course Harvey and Wheeler are out of the question. I think Familia, Mejia, Fulmer would be names to look at if I were the Twins...

Don't trust the Met's talent - ie. Santana trade. Just say no.

Willingam is a rarity in this sport. Good player with a great contract. I hope they do not move him.

Both A Twins & Mets Fan...

I think Niese, Familia & Valdespin would be a good trade for Span.

I would rather keep Willingham, but Wilmer Flores, Jeremy Hefner, Collin McHugh, Lucas Duda & Bobby Parnell would do for him too.

We would not get that much for either Span or Willingham.... Span for Niese is probably pretty even, but adding Familia and Valdespin is a bit much... maybe Niese and a small prospect. And there is no way a team would give that many young pieces for Willingham.

I think the Twins org. messed up everything here, aside from the arguments in the time and place that Humber wasn't ready (He was ready for MLB action in 08; memory serves he was a year or removed from TJ).

But Gomez, in turn, should've never been been put in the bigs right off the bat in 08, and they sent Guerra to high A ball a year early that same season too, memory serving. Even Mulvey was pitching at the AA level one year removed from having been drafted as a 2nd rd pick in 07 (In NY's system, and just prior to the trade), I think, and you NEVER do that (Rule #1 for any of you here to be hired by a MLB or amateur level org in mgmt-it NEVER works, aside from the top 10-15 picks, and even THERE you're on dangerous ground, generally, from the standpoint of development).

All things said, there's your two earnest questions in the end when it comes to making any future deals with the Mets (Albeit aware they may be under both new ownership and front office mgmt since the time of the 07/08 trade)-

A)Are they still rushing their prospects through the system too fast today as they've generally done the past decades, or not, and if so-
B)In lieu of those overwhelming pressures on the development of a single player, can these names "Rebound" if/when remaining at their current level across all projections for next season mentally, generally (Amongst any/all proposals, prospects of interest).

The raw talent, however, in and of itself, wouldn't be of any concern to me across that of a single org, to be perfectly honest, Steve.

As for the prospects the original poster listed, I don't know anything about them, and didn't look them up, to be honest. Given MN's long term org. wide depth needs, though, I've never made it a secret that I'd be for ANY/ALL trades JUST LIKE THIS the past year-in merit, at least.

The Twins need a lot of help/talent from Ft. Myers up-best talent available always here, of course, but the arms especially, and a lot of players at that.
Understand and also agree that we need to upgrade our talent pool but getting marginal talent from the 25 th ranked system (baseball weekly) does not seem to me to be a good choice. Remember even Niece is pitching in the NL and his add a few ticks to all his numbers in the AL.

I would rather have Span and ? Sent to someone with pitching history Atlanta, Tampa, Etc... and take my chances.

Remember depth is fine but need those who are projected as studs is what really matters - Need high end prospect if moving a player like span (who is established and who several teams covet), especially if for pitching which is much more of a crap shoot.

I am in for moving him but just don't see the Met's being a player unless knocking our socks off and just don't see it.

Always remember in trades the team that gets the "best player" usually "wins" the trade as hot minor league prospects are a dime a dozen and majority don't pan out.

I am happy with the Span for Meyer move as have a potential Ace. Only issue is the wait but for a potential ace - I will wait. Hopefully this "hot minor league prospect" is the real deal Washington has recently had good luck with pitching prospects so...... Right handed Randy Johnson is my hope.

6 ft 9 inches tall and throws 95-100 miles per hour with a filthy slider, sounds like Johnson to me.
    There's always hope
