Imo we have too many players that are near and around the same skill level..
we need to package some of our players for an upgrade at the 3.
- i can def live with out fields knowing ross could take his mins. ross is cheaper and could have more potential.
- davis and amir. both players are very similar. trade one and keep the other! we need more playing time for either one of these guys. either one can go so long as we keep one of them. oooor keep them both and move bargs.
- jonas has shown already that he will be a big part of this team, lets move bargs along with one of the other names mentioned above for some talent at the 3.
* i was gonna add lowry and calderon. but im hopeing we can retain calderon for the midlevel or less next season.
who would you prefer to keep, and who are you willing to part with ??
but hey, knowing this board there will be some dissent
trying to point out that we have some log jams and interchangable pieces we could give up in order to improve in areas of need.
for example. we have a log jam at the 4 and are thin at the 3.. if we part with bargs we could keep ed and amir and target a sf. or keep bargs and package two young guys like ed and ross who are on rookie contracts for and upgrade at the 3.
ross and fields. which ever leaves will create mins for the other. so i dont see it as a big loss if one of them were pacakged.
amir and ed. again if one leaves it will open up playing time for the other
bargs and jonas. we dont really need to move either.. but jonas being a more traditional big suites our team better and bargs has some value where he could net something worth while in return and there are other bigs on this team who can fill the gap at the 4.

I am with you 100% but the DD hopefuls will cut you to pieces.
Ross has two things that I like in a starting SG: defense and shooting.
I know what I see with DeRozan, I've seen it for years, and it hasn't changed a whole lot. I don't think DeRozan stinks, I just don't look at him as a championship calibre wing player. Can't play D and can't stretch the D. You can't even look at him as an Andre Iguodala type, and it's debatable if AI2 is the type of SG/SF you want helping you win a championship.
I've argued it for a long time and done a lot of work to back up my views, so I don't care to do it all again. Let them cut me to pieces, and I'll let them be wrong.
Derozan has been the only bright spot for the raptors all season(which isn't that much) but still like he was the 9th pick wth do you want him to do?
Read my post above. I think my criticisms are fair. I like DeRozan but don't think he's got the skill set to be a starting wing on a championship team. Great 6th man though with his ability to drive/get to the FT line and knock down the mid-range.
