    Good news:

Via Ken Rosenthal and Joel Sherman: The Yankees are optimistic about finalizing a new contract for Mariano Rivera this week. It’s expected to be worth a little more than the $10-11M pact Andy Pettitte is close to signing.

Sherman notes the Yankees have been monitoring the health of both Rivera (knee) and Pettitte (leg) following their injuries, so the process of re-signing both will be expedited. With Hiroki Kuroda already in tow, the Yankees would be able to go into next week’s Winter Meetings with a clear shopping list (and budget) should they finalize new deals for Pettitte and Rivera within the next few days.

    @AndrewMarchand:

I'm told Martin is looking for four years and $9-10M per. Doubt Yanks will do that.

These baseball contract are getting rediculous. In the past only a franchise player would get a long term lucrative contract, now anybody can. Swisher puts up average stats, completely choaks in the playoffs every year, plays terrible defense and wants a 100M contract. Martin bats under .200 and wants 10M per year over 4 years.
This is crazy. We need to throw more money into our player development and draft.

I need to try out for the yankees, I can defenitly bat .220 that should be enough for a 10 year contract.

You can say whatever you want about the prospects they got in return. Until they prove themselves to be MLB ready, this team is going to SUCK for years to come and the general managers is held accountable. And don't say he won a World Series back in 2003, cause that was done by the previous general manager in Dombrowski.

As for Stanton, I did not realize he still had all those arb years. If that's the case, he would definitely require to trade the prospects you had mentioned, plus more. But if Cashman can work a deal to get them to say yes, I'll be all over it.
I'm bored, sick with the flu and in bed watching cartoons like I'm 12 again so I'm going to have fun with this one and Stanton it's going to be the gem of my mock wet dream offseason moves. (it's really really sad but today I get to play virtual GM.)

    Williams, Heathcott, Sanchez, Nova, Warren

Let Martin get his 4 year $40m deal elseware - sign Pierzynski

I read in Mariners article that montero will be used primarily as the DH next year as they have some kid named zunino who is their catcher of the future.

So, in summary, we traded a 21 yr old average DH for a flamethrower with one arm, the wrong arm.

    Both teams lose.

So, in summary, we are signing Kuroda, Andy, Mo, Ichiro and Martin.

Ummmm.....didn't we already have all those guys?

Not to be a downer, but the real fun is when they sign actual new guys.

Sometimes I go to other team pages to gauge their fans.

Our crew is no less nuts than any other team. In fact, the Red Sox fans are just our comedy. They are miserable. Only met fans could be more sour.

I would not be surprised to see Martin not come back and for Cashman to make trades/sign for a RF/C

He is certainly not going to get a 4 year contract.

My thoughts are exactly the same Leo. Very boring and no room to improve with the old gang coming back. Do miss the mid 2000's when we seemed to sign someone new every day.
