It could be a negotiating tactic by Texas. Just because he wants 7 years 200m do you think Texas is just going to say "ok". Not at all. Texas has the upper hand because he isnt going to get that many years. Texas knows that. Josh probably knows that as well. If anything, Texas will meet in the middle. I can see Texas going 5 years.

Tex makes 135M over his last 6 years, Longoria makes 100M over his last 6. 35M is a pretty decent sized difference.

My point is not money but the length..This is a guy who is constantly injured.....no doubt a hometown discount but still a ton of money($134 million until 2022) for a guy who always has nagging injuries for a team that has to count it's pennies......This is Eric Chavez written all over it IMO....

Ichiro could get a Yankee contract based on 16 games.....I have no issue with it as he will always be prepared each game....A comfortable stopgap IMO....

Definitely a risk involved for Tampa. He is still young though and if he manages to stay healthy for the majority of the deal it will be a big win for Tampa.

Wouldn't mind see him play for just 1 year just see if he can smash 61. But that is just a dream and do not think Hal has any interest whatsoever. We are talking about Hal Steinbrenner not George. I just hope Hal doesn't go backwards with regards to future salary......
