Greinke is suppossedly in for a larger pay day then CC Sabathia. That's what a bunch of gm's are saying.

    I don't see how.

I know we keep throwing around the 189M payroll budget, but I've read that its actually a lot less that they can actually commit to contracts because of how benefits and stuff like that have to be factored in.

Anyone know if this is actually the case?

Only thing I know is Jeter see's a bump in his contract because he won the silver slugger award.

He's been very consistent and an elite pitcher over the past few years. The whole "anxiety" thing is way overblown and tends to diminish his value for whatever reason.

I don't know much of his actual whole anxiety thing..my point is I don't see how is more valuable then a guy like CC..Verlander, Price, Kewshaw, Felix..etc.

But you think he's more valuable then CC?

Or a Verlander? Price? Or Kershaw? Or Felix?

    Just comparing too CC..

CC has a better ERA, WHIP. Is a lefty also.

    Pitching in Yankees stadium.

So how this guy can command more money, baffles me.

Some people say CC isn't a a stellar Post season pitcher with a 4.53 ERA.

Grenkie although smaller sample size has a 6.5ish ERA in the post season.

I wonder which ******** team will sign Verlander when he turns 32 years old in 2015 (FA year).

I hear Detroit is going to extend him. He wants to finish his career in Detroit, and Detroit wants him too as well.

Age? Plus, he's a pretty dominant pitcher.

None of those other guys have hit free agency yet. If any one of those guys hits FA soon there is probably a 99% chance they get a bigger contract than Greinke.

Still don't see how him being 29 that make's him worth more then a 7 year 161 million dollar deal.

CC was only 28 when he signed his deal.

    Again, just my opinion.

Well the comparison you have is Sabathia. Not sure CC is as dominant. And CC is older when he signed his current deal. And more miles on his arm. Plus his weight.

Aside from that, you've listed guys who have never had a FA contract. I'm sure Kershaw, Price, Verlander, and Felix will all command more than CC did as a FA. Fact is, aces seldom see free agency. So when one does, expect to pay through the nose.

Statically speaking..CC has better numbers. ERA, WHIP.

He also pitches in a tougher ball park and the AL east.

Both strike out 8 per 9 and walk 2 per 9.

As far as CC; just got a year added really. Too keep him from opting out. Which I think is well worth it.

Greinke bests CC in FIP the last few seasons. I do think Greinke is a stud.

WAR has them identical over the last 4 seasons.
