    Signed, 2 years 8M.

He wasn't really a need. More of a want.

Move Cano to 3b he has the Arm and fill in 2b. Cano won't last as a secondbaseman anyway

    Fire Cashman!

But in all seriousness I was really hoping the Yankees would've pursued him. Even if he was decent for his first season there is a reasonable chance of elite production in 2014 when Mo might be gone. Oh well, can't spend those '14 dollars.

Makes you wonder if the 2014 team will just be Jeter, AROD, Tex, CC, Nunez, Robertson, Nova and 18 random free agents. Obviously an exaggeration but I think the Yankees are being a bit too cautious on committing any 2014 money. I really hope the Yankees are working on a big deal they're keeping quiet. I would be extremely happy to land Carlos Santana and Chin Soo Choo from Cleveland but that would cost an arm and a leg and we'd still have a need at 3b.

My arbitrarily ideal situation would be to send David Phelps, Brett Gardner, Tyler Austin/Heathcott, Austin Romine and Eduardo Nuņez for Santana and Choo. I would then sign Ichiro and Keppinger/Scutaro/Drew to replace Gardner and Nuņez. Don't think that deal is enough though, adding Gary Sanchez might be a must but I'm loathe to give him up. Then again we'd be lucky if he became as good as Santana in the future anyway.

I'd prefer a more durable option over Chavez? Given the age and injuries of Jeter and ARod, I'd think being able to stay healthy should be of the utmost importance for a util IFer.

We do have Nix. But if u listen to Cashman on Fatcesa today, he slipped in saying Chavez would be back. I don't think many noticed, but I did.
