of course the braves are serious. we shored up our pen in a huge way while dumping the biggest question mark on the staff. wren would have been ******** to turn it down. the salary stuff is a bonus.

we can do better and cheaper than justin. his splits are bad, he's had tons of maturity issues, and he's not worth 2 starters, let alone one of them being delgado. i hope we stay away from him.

I agree to an extent. Can we do cheaper? yes. Better? i don't know about that. The thing with Upton is that he is an MVP type of player, something like Heyward will be in a year or two. He is worth a great package because he can give you a .285+ avg, 25+ homers, and 90-100 rbi's with great defense. He is also young at 25, and wont be a free agent until the end of 2015. Unlike the Tex deal where we only had him for a year, we will have control over Justin for 3 years. With the Hanson trade, it frees up 4 mil,so we now have about 14 mil to get a LF. It remains to be seen how we go about this situation. This move shows Wren has something unexpected up his sleeve that he is working on.

Walden is a very good reliever cheap and under control till 2016, that's good value for Hanson.

It wasn't a knock against Walden, but relievers are always valued less than starters.

I will miss Hanson, but let's face it, he was going downhill faster than Lindsay Lohan.

#Braves had 3 Boras clients in rotation 2 yrs ago: Lowe, Hanson, Jurrjens. After today, it'll be zero.
I don't think the Braves are going to deal with any of his clients if they can help it.

Considering how good Walden is against LH, I would be inclined to agree. If that money goes to filling a big hole, I'm all for it.
