I highly doubt they trade Myers for either Shields or Hellickson. A 30 year old non-power arm with only a year before FA or a non-power, short RH with non-dominant periphs are not the type of arms you deal a high end bat prospect for if the organization is looking to be smart.

You would think the Dbacks would be all over this. Between Skaggs/Bauer you have two MLB ready front line pitchers and then you have Bradley who has the highest upside of them all.
keep myers and sign missouri native shaun marcum!!
marcum would sign for less then expected, especially to be close to home. marcum, when healthy, could be a dominant pitcher. he was once traded for a top prospect(lawrie).
I dont think there is THAT much of a difference between Dickey/Shields/Niese/Hellickson. I also dont think Dickey's contract will be that big of a deal...I doubt he ever gets more than 12M a year and that's not overpaying for him, pretty good value actually.
Looking at Hellickson's fangraghs.....his ERA is pretty deceiving, maybe he's not as good as he's shown. His xFIP/FIP have been mid-4 the last 2 seasons. Niese did much better.
Im not a big sabremetrics guy at all but every time im in this forum or the Mets forum, FIP stats are always used to end all arguments....so there ya go.
To clarify for the second time.
I could see Myers being traded for someone like Helly or Shields, to expand on that, I can see that because Dayton Moore might do that kind of trade.
What Myers is worth is someone like Price or Moore, Harvey, Wheeler, and even then, possibly more than that potentially.
Dayton Moore wants pitching, I'm sure he sees Shields as a front line starter, that's why I can see it happening. Obviously Myers is worth more than Shields (to me at least).
And the difference for Dickey, is his age. He doesn't really have all that much trade value, even with his last three years performance and likely good aging he will likely go through.
How bout Derek Holland and Justin Grimm from the Rangers for Wil Myers
Dickey is a unique player, as much as we love him as Met fans there are plenty of teams out there that don't believe in his success or believe he could sustain that success for another 3 or more seasons.
