just resigning grienke is a maybe, but if we do trading for dickey means we need to extend him too, i think it is just more cost effective to keep richards, Wright would make the team better

I'd do it. I doubt they would, unless they are desperate.

I think that's too much for the Rangers to be giving up.

That sounds better. I'm not sure if you originally meant Holland, Gentry, and Olt, or Holland and Gentry or Olt.

Can't help but recall -- as everyone else has - how Alderson proclaimed that the Mets would move quickly on these signings. Seven weeks later you have to wonder either they're going to fork up the cash or they're not. The numbers aren't going to go away. Wright and Dickey will get what they want either from the Mets or someone else, The only question is whether the Mets want to pay them or if they'll trade them to someone else who will.

I'm thinking it's most likely the latter.

What a surprise, the Mets are dragging their feet when it comes to spending money...

From what the idiot son said the other day, I'm leaning towards them just letting them walk for nothing like they did with Jose, that's the best option for a team who is only interested in the short term.

Again I do not mind waiting, they could do this during the Winter Meetings and even go into next year and get a resolution. Yet if either of them are not signed by Mid January then trade them before ST. Do not let another Jose Reyes situation happen.

How come the Mets find it impossible to do anything without dragging it out?

We haven't even been in the off season for 2 months. Both players have received contracts and at least David Wright has counter offered.

Also we do know that the Mets and Wright/Dickey are not publicly talking about contract talks. We have no idea where they are at with either player.

If I had to guess Wright signs in the next 2 weeks. They are purposely waiting on RA Dickey to see what they get offered at the winter meetings before making a decision with him.

Why does it take 2 months+ to resign your best ever home-grown position player?

I know because no other team in the history of any sport have ever taken a long time to sign their best players.

They can only sign him to a contract once he agrees to one.

Same with every team, but other teams manage to get deals done quickly...
