It gets pretty brutal..

In case you don't know Royce White, He is a first round pick drafted by the rockets last draft. Royce White refuses to play for the Rockets and keeps calling out the Rockets to the media because he feels they aren't doing enough to take care of his anxiety issues such as his fear of flying. Honestly Reading the tweets I felt bad for him, even if he is at fault.

I have worked in the field of mental illness for years, and know fully well that anxiety is a very real condition...but Royce uses it as an excuse, and his act is getting old.

He used it as an excuse as a freshman at the University of Minnesota when he stole from the Mall of America, and he used it again after he stole lab tops from dorm rooms.

All the people I know with this type of illness would jump all over the chance of millions of dollars, and do whatever they could to get over their worries...instead, for Royce, he makes claims that his condition is under control, which it clearly isnt...again, for all the people I have worked with who have mental illness, if they were given the ultimatum of getting on a plane to make millions, they do it...they may not like getting on the plane, or whatever the issue is, but they would realize the importance of it.

Royce just loves to make excuses, and likely loves the check he is receiving while not doing anything...in a couple years when that check stops coming, I will not be surprised when he all of a sudden says he will be willing to fly to get a chance to play in the NBA again.

I disagree. White is different, because all he has to do is stop his *****ing and trying to get his way. Illness or no illness, there needs to be a compromise...Houston has been willing to compromise, White has not...again, I know full well that anxiety is a real issue, but White uses that as an excuse to get his way, and has for quite some time now.

I was initially sympathetic, but at this point I say he deserves the scrutiny. I'm tired of hearing him whine about everything the Rockets are not doing for him. Who is the employee in this situation? Are the Rockets organization working for him now? Are they the ones under contract? He is scamming an organization by using a real mental disorder and its going to end up desensitizing a lot of people to mental health awareness.


Not everyone with anxiety lives in a bubble and never makes something of themselves but that seems to be what Royce White is hell bent on doing.... so long as he is making his paycheck anyways.
