Yes but it's a different argument, what will probably keep Bonds and Clemens out of the HOF on first ballot (which they would have been 1st ballot otherwise) is their direct linkage to steroid allegations.

Piazza is not in that boat, of course there are sneaking suspicions about every particularly dominant offensive player of that time, there is nothing concrete against Piazza.

Will be going to Cooperstown in July to see Piazza hopefully get inducted alongside Long Island's own Craig Biggio!

Nothing concrete against Bonds or Clemens either, but that doesn't stop the madness.

Biggio is a Long Islander? Nice.

Well they have a positive test against Bonds and steroid syringes with Clemen's DNA on it.

It might not have gotten them convicted in court but it does have an effect on public opinion.

Oh man I forgot about Bonds' test. Ah well, he would still get my vote every time.

He's a HOF without question steroids or not obviously..

Just don't know if he will get in first ballot because of the stigma against alleged steroid users to this point.

    Same with Clemens.

No they had a test from BALCO with a hand written name that said "Barry" on it, that wouldn't be confirmed by BALCO, hence the jail time for Conte, and the test was dismissed.

We can all assume what the test most likely was but it is anythin but concrete

The test was not admissible because no one could even confirm it was his.

Looks to me at this point Piazza is the only one who would get in and barely.

It said "Barry B" on it, and again you are strawmanning my point.

Just because he was declared innocent at his trial doesn't mean he is innocent in the court of public opinion.

Most people think Bonds used steroids and that sentiment i am sure hasn't changed since he retired.

I'm still hoping Mcgriff will make it, he's one of my favorite players and he would have had over 500 home runs if not for the strike and he was never accused of taking roids. i hope he doesn't end up in a Jim Rice situation where it's his last shot and he's elected.

One of the Biggest Hall of Fame Classes to date: Discussion and vote thread

I think what will be even more interesting is when all these guys are up who actually were suspended.

    Where does the madness end?

this is my favorite bonds steroid story:
Leftwich attributes to Anderson a story about Bonds, angry over steroids causing his testicles to shrivel, taking matters into his own hands. Prior to a rendezvous with his then-mistress, Kimberly Bell, after Game Five of the Series, he shot a full dose of human growth hormone into his scrotum. Within the hour, as her lover's penis swelled to the width of a Coke can, Bell had to drive a moaning, half-conscious Bonds to an emergency room. Doctors gingerly drained the fluid and applied dry ice to his groin, narrowly averting a catastrophic eruption of his organ. The next night, unable to bend properly due to the soreness between his legs, Bonds misplayed a ball late in Game Six, helping the Angels surge from behind to win. Anaheim would take the series the following night.

piazza should be a unamious in

no links to ped's at all besides one reporters account that has been dispelled 12k times
by far best hitting catcher ever

id vote for bonds also because he was a HOF before he was 30

clemens though i wouldnt vote for because his career was basically on the downside and then boom he goes to toronto gets on steroids and then puts up the crazy numbers
