QB Suggestions For The Of Season

Alex Smith with more than likely be available. I know he's another USC QB (I think he is at least lol) But I think he fits the mold of the type of QB we need. What do you guys think?

Here is the problem at QB-- Sanchez has a base salary of 8.5 million and a cap number of $12,853,125 according to nyjetscap. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, he is going NOWHERE, at least next season. He will be the starter and there will in all likelihood zero debate because you don't put that person on the bench in a salary cap sport. It is the same reason Holmes will be back.

Let's be honest, if their cap numbers weren't so good for the team in terms of releasing them, Bart Scott and Calvin Pace would be back next year too.

It is a situation like a lot of analysts have said-- The Jets probably aren't going to do that well this year and next year until they can get the cap situation under control. They went all in from 2009-2011 and they are now paying for it.

Aside form the cap issues, I honestly believe that if you put Alex Smith on the Jets with the current personnel, he puts up very similar numbers to what Sanchez has done. The same is probably true with at least 10 of the current starting QB's in the league.

There's a good reason the 49ers are already looking to move in another direction with the more talented Kaepernick.

This. There's no one who's going to be available that's really going to make an immediate impact on this offense.

So since we're going to be stuck with Sanchez for at least another season what we have to do is start rebuilding the offense. Get some skill players that know how to play and have some explosive play-making ability. Draft an RB if there's one worth taking and start from there. So at Sanchez can have better weapons to work with and if he still stinks it up at least the next guy will come into the situation with some sort of foundation to work with.

Draft a QB in one of the middle rounds. Sit him behind Sanchez next season. At the end of the year, if Sanchez is still awful, cut him loose. Hopefully the now second-year QB is ready to take the reigns at that point. If the Jets are bad next year, draft a top receiver in the first round and work from there. Then you have a young quarterback with Hill, Kerley and a 1st Round receiver.

Alex Smith is from Utah, where he was undefeated his junior year under then head coach Urban Meyer, who left for Florida the following season.

As already stated, the Jets aren't going to be able to bring in another QB with Sanchez making so much money next season, he's going to get the job by default. Unless McElroy can somehow magically win the job it doesn't look likely that anyone will be able to knock Sanchez down the depth chart.

Madden Idea: Trade for Scam Newton.

Real World Idea: Keep Mark Sanchez. No duncecap, other than the Jets, would give up any assets for him and his ridiculous salary.

Our draft should go like this....
Rd 1.. Pass rusher... We need one for year now.. It's time to get one.
Rd 2... Wide receiver.. We need some help here even with Holmes in the line up
Rd 3... Quarterback... For obvious reasons..
Rd 4.. Offense line... Moore and slauson will be gone..
Rd 5.. Line backer..with Scott glacé and Thomas gone we need to double dip here
Rd 6.. Tightened...possible Keller will be gone or tagged..
Rd 7.. Offensive line... Either tackle or guard ..
NY JETS .we just can't win the games we need to win

Lol not for nothing Mark will most likely be back bu t in no means is he a lock to start, it wouldn't be the first time a qb making serious money got benched.....if we finish the year bad there is no way this kid will be guaranteed the starting job who knows if Rex is even here next year which would mean new coach which puts sanchy boy in even more trouble

Europe get READY, THE CHAMPS ARE HERE!

The first two picks you got there are exactly what the team addressed this last offseason. Why would they do that again this year. Especially when the two players they did draft are playing well. Coples is so young and so talented, the sky is the limit for this guy and Hill has some wrinkles to work out in his game but he is such an incredible athlete who can only get better with time.

This is a pretty good point. Just because he's here, doesn't mean he'll start. It's highly likely the Jets will draft, trade for, or sign an affordabl QB, and they could very well have an open competition for the starting job in training camp.

Even if Sanchez is the starter week 1, there will be no guarantee he keeps the job if they have a legit QB to push him and he falters.

No way they franchise Keller. He hasn't been good enough to warrant the money they'd have to pay him. I see the Jets letting him go, and trying to develop Rueland and Cumberland, while maybe drafting someone in the early rounds.
