    Would You Rather...

I was having a discussion with my buddy Lucas. He is a Vikings fan and I am a Saints fan.

DO NOT MOVE THIS TO THE COMPARISON FORUM.

Anyways. My friend and I were discussing Adrian Peterson and the Saints backs. I said I would rather have the following:

RB - Pierre Thomas (Age 27)
RB - Mark Ingram (Age 22)
RB - Darren Sproles (Age 29)
RB - Chris Ivory (Age 24)
    RB/WR - Travaris Cadet (Age 23)

    Or have

RB - Adrian Peterson (Age 27)

I basically told him the following:

-For our offense, having different dimensions from our backs is more important.

-Running backs shelf life isn't great. I'd much rather have these 5 backs in New Orleans then just one AP.

He obviously disagreed. Who is correct? Would you rather have JUST AP or all 5 of the Saints backs and then use them accordingly (you can trade them, you can line up Cadet at WR like we do, etc.)

Nobody is going to agree with you.

    AP.

Not only is he such a threat to run all over you, the defense has to respect the run every single play he's in. Those guys don't scare anyone half as much.

You really don't know what having Adrian does for your team unless you are a fan firsthand IMO. There is NO WAY I want the Saints run game versus ours.

So you want control of one back who's bound to break down in say 4-5 years over the value of 4 backs that are still going to give you value for the next 7-8 years. That's 21-24 years of back control between Ingram, Ivory and Cadet. Another good 2 years or so of Sproles (because he doesn't get the same wear and tear as AP or any other back), and another good 5 years of Pierre Thomas.

And I do know what AP gives you. I watch a ton of Viking games, I love that offense with Rudolph, AP, Ponder, Harvin, they're fun to watch. I know exactly what he gives.

I'd rather play in the moment and try to win while AP is in his prime and not worry about 4-5 years down the road

Right there I can tell you that you don't watch Viking games very often... unless a plethora of failed screens and incomplete short passes is your cup of tea...

However, I am a Vikes fan... AP is a once in a lifetime talent. Sproles couldn't carry Peterson's jock strap.

Not to be an ***, but aside from Sproles, to put it bluntly, the rest of your RBs are crap that can be found every year in the draft at the mid rounds and beyond. Don't get it twisted, Brees "eliteness" makes them a threat, otherwise you can find a Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram, Chris Ivory, etc. on every team.

AP, on the other hand, is worlds better than them and would make that offense virtually unstoppable.

1)They also have Tobey Gerhart. AP is so good they dont need to use white bread, they stick with pumpernickel.
    2) There will be other drafts where they can restock when its time.
    3) AP is the best running back. You take him. If Drew Brees had AP it wouldn't actually be fair for what it would do for both the passing and running games.
