awesome screenplay/dialogue. awesome job by everyone in the cast not named sally field (overacted) and JGL (surprisingly, but the character of robert lincoln was pigeonholed into being a little btch, so i can't blame him too much). awesome job by set and costume designers.
really, my only complaint (aside from the way they made slavery the SOLE basis for the civil war) was (as usual) the way spielberg took the authenticity of the character and that era and ratcheted it up with his typical "hollywood-ization." my mom put it well... she said it felt "stilted" at time, which is how i often feel when watching a spielberg film.
