Jason Babin cut, YOU BETTER BE READING THIS DIMITROFF

    Eagles waived DE Jason Babin.

The Phillies have won a game more recently than the Eagles, who are three points removed from a winless season. This moves tells us the organization is turning the page on the 2012 season, seeking more playing time for Brandon Graham and 2012 second-rounder Vinny Curry. A Pro Bowler in 2010 and 2011 with 30.5 sacks, Babin has long been a liability against the run and was underwhelming as a pass rusher (5.5 sacks) this season. The Titans have moved on from their wide-9 scheme, but the Lions or Bengals could be interested in the 32-year-old.

We need a DE. We could use a veteran. We need a pure pass rusher. Biermann does everything except consistently take the QB down. Babin does nothing except take the QB down. Time to sign him. He can't be any worse than the DE's we have who apparently aren't good enough to get snaps.

Babin would be a huge addition to our defensive line! Get it done!

He sucks against the run, but as a passing down edge rusher? Works for me.

I'll look it up but believe we had somewhere around $3M in space to start the season.

Does the cutting of Ray free up some space as well?

I believe it is based off of last season's records.

OK, correction. According for Emperor Florio, the Falcons had $1.3M in cap space to start the season.

So that plus his guaranteed money next year ($6M) means they have to hope he passes through waivers.

No because most of this year's salary was guaranteed and no one picked him up, so they had to eat that money.

Similar reason as to why they won't cut Turner (large chunk of guaranteed money) during the season.

Look at Babin's stats when Jim Washburn was not his DL coach. I think any team who signs him for the remainder of this season is going to be very disappointed.
