I'm not getting why everyone's freaking out. Most of the top FAs have signed with anyone so were not missing out on anything yet.

Yeah. Unless you think Texas can get all 3, I don't see a reason to panic.
You have no idea how excited I am right now.

Why can't they? They got the prospects to get Justin Upton and they got the money to sign Greinke and its not like Hamilton is going to get some 7-10 year deal most likely 3-4 year deal and he will probably go to Texas in that case.

Why does length matter in how many they sign? It's about money. Doesn't matter if its 2 years or 7 years.

Upton makes like $10M a year, and $23-25M for both Hamilton and Greinke.

Why? Because a 3-4 year deal is more affordable for Texas a 7 year deal would be a lot more $.

It's a per year contract though. It's not like they're handing him 200 mil up front.

Thats true but Texas isn't going to give Greinke a 9-10 year deal then turn around and give Hamilton how many years he wants if its only 3 or 4 years thats very affordable for Texas plus more teams will be in on him.

Besides Texas is sitting on a load of cash more then us because of there new TV deal atm.

But per year is what matters. Teams have a budget each year. How long it is probably doesnt affect that. And if it does, it probably makes the price cheaper.

I think we'll start the season with AT LEAST one of the following players.

    Justin Upton
    Josh Hamilton
    Wil Myers
    Nick Swisher

I think that everyone is getting nervous because nothing has happened. Now that you are hearing the Yankees are getting involved in Hamilton it scares us evn more. Here are my thoughts.

    1. Offer Hamilton a 4/5 year deal around 22-23 million per and sign a Cody Ross for 5-8 mill or so if possible, not sure his asking price
    2. If that fails: sign Swisher and try and sign Bourn, get them both.
    3. Get one of the aforementioned names. At least one of them and try and make a solid trade.

Patience is hard to have, but I really think GMZ needs to make an impact or he may not be making the calls much longer.

I'd throw Hamilton and Myers on that list personally. Especially if we get Holland. Package him up with Guti or Wells+ if we need to. We won't need both if we have Hamilton and Myers.
