In that trade the D-Backs get the short end of the stick by far. They have the most leverage too, because they have the highly touted, prestigious players.

If we're going to hide a player's defense it's going to be at catcher and/or first base. Plus, we've been doing it for years. Johjima was bad, RoJo wasn't good, Olivo was pretty ****ing bad besides nailing base stealers.

Actually, our last good catcher might have been Dan Wilson.

I'm not claiming anything. I'm saying Napoli and Swisher are probably cheap enough that we can sign both. They've said they want to increase the cap but no by any specific amount.

    How about this.

Maybe the Mariners could sign Napoli and Swisher. Maybe the can't.

    There. Both bases covered.

^ yea I cant see that trade happening at all.

Victorinos name sure has been quiet in the FA front. Napoli and flyin Hawaiian would be a sly off season. And keep all our specs.

Jaso just cant throw. He seems to be a solid manager and receiver, but his arm is awful.

Agreed. But I actually think they sign him to replace Smoak and spell Jaso a couple times a handful of games.

Im not worried about defense at all tho really. We have the best in the league, I could handle a couple below average defenders, especially if we are getting some sticks in the process.

Victorino is older than a lot of the bigger named guys. I think I'd rather go with a platoon.

I could see Napoli playing 1st, Jaso DH against RHP, then Napoli catching and Smoak at 1st vs RHP

Yeah actually as long as Napoli produces at the plate I don't really care that much about his defense behind it. We're not going to find a Yadier Molina type catcher unless we draft him or overpay via FA/trade. **** it

Yup that's the idea. If we get Butler then we can just give the middle finger to Smoak and let him ride the pine and get spot starts until he proves something.

Im trying to think what would make that trade actually possible cause its so fricken dirty. Maybe we add a mid level guy or two.
