Dee Gordon is a great Defensive SS who can be a great lead off hitter problem is his bat wasn't great last season though.

Don't know if i would trade Franklin unless its in a deal for a guy like Upton because Franklin may be a better bat then Dee Gordon even if he doesn't stick at SS.

Heyman just broke down some thoughts on Hamilton. Says the Rangers are the favorite, but they're trying to keep it at 4 years possibly with a vesting option. Hamilton would take less from Texas, but the M's are willing to go higher and aren't willing to let Texas get a discount.

Pretty logical and likely. Either you steal Hamilton or you jack up the price. The M's have to ride out the Hamilton sweepstakes. If he signs with Texas you move on to Swisher. Meanwhile you're desperately trying to add an additional bat via trade.

I actually wouldn't mind Bourn we do have the need for a lead off hitter i was scared off by this because of Figgins but you can't be scared just because another player sucked for you.

I do wonder if we could get Bourn for cheaper as well which is why we are going after him Swisher may cost more because he has more power.

$15M a year for him would blow. He isn't a great offensive player. To us, he isn't worth that much money. .326 wOBA 104 wRC+. All of his value comes from his defense.

He would be an upgrade over everyone of our bats except maybe Seager who has surprising power.

Not a fan of Bourn. He seems like the exact type of player that would drop off with any type of leg/foot injury, and not to mention aging.

I still think the safest bet is to sign Swisher. With his defensive flexibility, there is some wiggle room to where he plays with age. Plus, he is 1B insurance for Smoak.

Sign Swisher and trade for Upton. I think those 2 would really make this team.

I still am not thrilled with the idea of having Montero and 2 other catchers on our roster. I'd be thrilled if we could swap Monterro for a similar type hitter at a different position. If he's not our long term catcher, he has far less value to us.
