Sure now that everything is wrapped up he's not blacked out... lest we forget the treatment he got last fall or in 2008.

Jon Stewart did a pretty great job on this...

    The earmarks make perfect sense.

The money that saved on earmarks goes straight to the executive branch and is spent by the federally government.

By loading up on earmarks for his own district he's preventing the fed from getting that money.

He looks at it like tax dollars he's trying to get back, and he's absolutely right.

Also has nothing to do with the original topic.
That sounds like a copout. Cavuto should have pressed him much harder on that issue because it really is an issue of having your cake and eating it too.

It sounds like an admission by him that he has failed in the goals he set out so he is going to use the current system like everyone else does.

If he is in fact just getting his people's tax dollars back, does he find out how much they paid and only get that much back in earmarks? Or does he just get whatever he can get back?

My impression is he gets whatever he can back.

It's also pretty hard to judge him for not changing the government to what he wants when he's been the only no vote on more bills in history than any other congressman. It's not his fault the Congress doesn't, and never, shared his own views.

It's a pretty clear argument... the money that isn't earmarked goes to the executive branch so why wouldn't everyone try to get it back for their own district? People are under the impression that the non-earmarked money is somehow saved- It's not.

Furthermore, he's never voted for an earmark, never. He simply understands he himself cannot stop the earmark system so it's better to try and brace for the way he knows the congress will vote.

The fact people always get on Ron about earmarks or the fact he collects social security just goes to show how far people have to go just to discredit the guy, at the end of the day these issues are pretty unimportant in relation to the rampant corruption we see going on every day.

That is a large assumption that doesn't appear to be backed up by anything other than a belief in Ron Paul.

Of course he hasn't changed anything, if you set yourself up as a no-man and don't attempt to form coalitions with other House and Senate members to present an idea of what you think the government SHOULD do, you won't change anything. Before you can change anything, you have to present a positive vision of what the end result should look like and saying that the government "shouldn't do this, shouldn't do that, and definitely shouldn't do this". How do you expect anything to change?

As for the voting against earmarks, I don't care that he didn't vote for them. If he submitted them and then other people voted for them, he did the same thing as if he voted on them. A technicality is all he has used and nothing more.

From an understanding of Ron Paul's ideology he's just saying that secession is a part of history, and although another chance of that happening is slim...government taking it away is merely yet another encroachment of our liberties.
