Yeah i'm pretty sure the same things were said about Lidstrom at the same stage of their careers.

The holes and tons of stuff to work on come with the territory when you've only played one year in the league. You can put him in the same group as every other player in history in those regards. The intrigue with Gardiner are the tools he has which you can't teach such as IQ, hand eye and obviously his skating ability to a certain extent. The defense and adjusting to systems in the NHL take time.

gardiner is not in the same mold as lindstrom. id say hes closer to timonen or rafalski.

Things will always work out in the end, but if you want them to turn out a certain way... You need to make it happen.

As much as y'all would want a season, I think a lockout would be the best possible thing for a Leafs fan. We'd have a top 5 pick where we can surely get a stud and to top it of will have a lot of cap space. Our young guys also get more seasoning in the minors.

Sign Getzlaf to whatever big fat contract he wants, he's exactly what we need and what would make Kessel happier.
Try trading for the top pick to get that phenom.

If anything we should hope for a lockout, I can live with the WJC as the only source of hockey for another 8-9 months.

    i totally agree...

If there is a lockout, term limit on contracts, penalties to teams that signed players to ridiculous lifetime deals we are in great shape..

we will hopefully draft in the top 5 again and this time we will draft a highly skilled forward...

if the term limit on contract is lets say 5 years...
that is what brian burke is dreaming of... we will have 28 mill in cap space next year to sign whoever the hell we want... burke doesnt have a problem paying big money if the term is short...

in FAency both perry and getzlaf offer them the moon... and whoever else we need...

trade for luongo... and when he retires if the cap hit goes back to vancouver in the new cba...we are definitely going to make an offer for him..

im hoping lol but its a freaking long shot

So would the owners. That's the main reason why we aren't playing right now.

both perry and getzlaf would be able to play 10 more good years though not like some deals where the player will be 42 by the time its over.
