my cranberry-OJ turkey meatballs turned out to be amazing. they were gone in about 5 mins... and i had made probably 100 of them for about 30 guests.
needless to say, the only reason i'm up and typing this right now is because i had to poo-choo all that awesome food out of my body.
JETSMETSKNICKSPENS
GATOR BAIT!
Oh God....food comatose is in effect right now!
My cousin made a Bobby Flay recipe of turkey bacon with peas it was ok, got some pumpkin pie to kill
Weird Thanksgiving.......in-laws made lasagna. My wife and I are mostly vegetarian/pescatarian, but when we hosted we made turkey, so.....weird....but f'n delicious.
I made some Apps and tried something for the first time that my mom always used to make growing up:
Clam Pie
Ingredients
chopped parsley
1 cup dried bread crumbs
lemon juice
garlic chopped
1/2 onion chopped
dried oregano
1/4 cup mayo
4 cans minced clams (reserve juice from can)
Instructions
Mix all together, slowly add in some of the clam juice until the mixture is fairly moist
put in a pie plate
oven at 350 for 30-45 min (until top is just barely browned)
Serve hot with crackers (like a dip).
So goooood...
Made the following:
Crab stuffed mushrooms
veggies, crackers, assorted cheeses, and dips (for games as well)
Cornish Game Hens seasoned with salt, pepper, Bells seasoning, and melted butter. Added just a hint of orange juice as an afterthought and it was awesome.
Gravy made from renderings from hens
Pearl Onions
Pickle and olive plate
Stuffing- Pepperidge farm, but added cranberries, orange zest, and tiny apple cubes, and mixed in some apple cider in place of half of the prescribed water.
Roasted Garlic, butter, and Cream Cheese mashed potatoes
Mississippi Sweet Potato Pie
Apple Pie
Homemade vanilla ice cream
