    What happens with the draft if the season is cancelled?

    I've always wondered this. How do the selections work for the next draft?

    i think they still hd it last time didn;'t they? and the players rights were just kept with the team when it returned

    They still have a draft and every team has a chance at getting the #1 overall pick. After the draft is over the players rights are held until they can be signed.

    Same as last time. The NHL decided which franchise needs saving and they give them the #1 pick and the other 29 teams have an equal chance of getting the 2nd pick....oops the secrets out.

    Nate MacKinnon centering Hall and Yakupov/Eberle? That's just nasty. A core of Hall, MacKinnon, Yakupov, Eberle, RNH, Gagner, and Schultz is tops in the league. I'd probably trade Hemsky for another defenseman if I'm the Oilers.

    You guys have it all wrong, they give the first overall pick to the team in the most financial trouble. So the Leafs,Rangers and Habs will be picking 28-30. You can count on it.

    It would be held off until after the new agreement is hammered out and the two sides will come to an agreement on how to handle it.

    I think they took the last played standings and set up a weighted lottery for ALL teams based on those prior standings. So yes, this past seasons champs could get the #1 overall pick, but they would have the worst odds of doing so.

    Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure all the GM's play musical chairs...winner gets number 1 pick.....but its a win win cuz everyone ends up gettin a cake for participation
