    Xander Bogaerts promoted to AAA

On Wednesday, Xander Bogaerts drove in the only two Portland runs of the double header while collecting two of Portland’s eight total hits. Bogaerts went 2-for-6 with a walk. The remarkable 20-year-old now is hitting .311 (10th in the Eastern League) with a .407 OBP (6th) and .502 slugging mark (10th). He is performing at a dominant level in Double-A, despite his status as the youngest position player in the league.
    Lets see how it goes.

^^ More helpful to have a thread starter that actually fleshes out the thread title. That snippet doesn't mention the promotion.

Portland Sea Dogs' shortstop Xander Bogaerts has been promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket. No counter move has yet been announced. The Sea Dogs roster currently stands at 24 active players.

Bogaerts, the top ranked prospect in the organization by Baseball America, hit a team leading .311 (68-for-219) in 56 games for the Sea Dogs this season with 12 doubles, six triples, six home runs, 35 RBI, and five stolen bases. He reached base safely in 50 of 55 games with the Sea Dogs and was tied for the team lead with 18 multi-hit games. His six triples was tied for the league lead.

Good to see. Shortstop's not our strongest position, I think when Xander gets here it will improve drastically.
    Favourite Teams:

    Boston Red Sox: 42-29
Indianapolis Colts: Decent draft, no new wide receiver though.
Detroit Pistons: 8th pick in the draft
Ottawa Senators: Great season guys, let's get them next year

    Beautiful:

Don't assume he'll be playing SS when he gets here.

For instance when (not if) Iglesias's carnival dream dries up, but he can still manage a .255/.300/.345 sort of slash, he's liable to stay here as a 3.0 rWAR SS, and XB is headed for either 3B (if WMB fails as looks increasingly likely every day) or LF if the Nava/Carp dream dries up.

If somehow SS/3B/LF is all set across the board in mid 2014, then get ready for a trade, or a move to DH or 1B by WMB.

Something tells me we might see Xander sooner than we all expected.

    Xander Bogaerts, that is all.

I predicted Bogaerts would get promoted early and end up in the majors late August-early September 2013 after last season ended and RST gave me a lot of ****.

He might get called up in September, but he's not on the 40 so I doubt it. If he did get called up he wouldn't play unless we locked up a playoff spot. He could get called up if 2 of WMB, Iggy, Drew get hurt. Or if he absolutely tears up AAA

More people are going to be added to the 40 man based on who's eligible for the rule 5 draft. I think one way or another it happens.

But I don't think that the players need to be added to the 40MR before the end of the season to avoid the rule 5 draft. The Sox could wait until after the season when some players on 1 yr deals (like Drew? and Napoli) or players who are about to go to free agency (like Elllsbury) and I suppose aren't technically on the 40 MR to add other players to the 40 MR, such as XB.
