I'd say this is worse than trading Napoli for Francisco.

Yeah and by that token most Latin American players are dumb as rocks because their English ain't proper. Can someone tell me why we're judging a manager by his accent?

This came out of nowhere to me. I don't love it, but don't hate it either. Just keep Whitt away from the team.

I don't know if people are judging a guy on his dialect or not but we all know the stereotypes.

I own a small business, 2 mistakes I will never make again, rehiring someone that was fired & hiring a friend.

    People are fired with reason.

    Friends feel their entitled.

You didn't know what was going to happen. Napoli had a career year. AA didn't know.

This is a car accident in slow motion...ABOUT to happen.

Was really hoping that AA was going to add to his legend by dragging Felipe Alou/ Tony Larussa out of retirement. Wishful thinking.
Or going in another more progressive direction and hiring a younger Latin manager like Acta or Alomar. Would have made sense with such a heavily Latin line up.
I'm not sure how Gibbons personality will mesh with this group. I will hope for the best but fear the worst. AA is a smart guy so if he feels Gibbons is the best choice for this club then he is.......

    What. The. ****.

Wow, I didn't want Tracy or Riggleman either, but wow.

Not even sure what to say. Can't say I'm a fan of this move at all. I REALLY hope AA knows something I don't on this one.

    Yeah, it's pretty stupid.

Just for the record our 3 most successful managers are:

    1) Cito Gaston, a Texan as well, from San Antone just like Gibby.
    2) Bobby Cox, from Oklahoma which is just a few miles north of Texas
    3) John Gibbons, Texan

My father in law was a southern university educated Naval Commander but every time he tossed out a southern colloquialism like " y'all" I smirked and had to remind myself that this guy is not the slow cartoon character he appears.
I don't sense that same depth in Deputy Dawg Rasmus.

*Checks watch* ...nope not April Fools.

Well that was an interesting pick. I like it better than Tracy or Riggleman. Totally out of left field though.

He's got the qualifications everybody wants: he's tougher than Farrell, he's experienced, and he's not Jim Tracy. Gibbons did have solid bullpen management. And he used platoons properly unlike a lot of our previous managers.

I'm not sure if I like it yet but it's not Jim Tracy or Riggleman so that'll have to be enough for now.

Vic Mackey: You better figure out how much you hate me. And how you're going to deal with that. 'Cause I'm not going anywhere.

This sums up every sports interview, ever.
