Me too, but only because I don't like the Cardinals. I don't fear Smith and the way the Niners play defense he'd be in a lot of trouble. Plus, they run a different system so he'd be starting over again.

Wherever he goes I hope nothing but good for him (unless it's against the 9ers) he is a class act and deserves a good opportunity

Wow ... i really thought Alex smith was gonna start.
I have sung a different tune for Alex Smith in terms of him being a bust to being an average QB game manager........not very exciting, but If CK takes the reigns it's business and nothing personal!!!

CK i honestly think barring from some catastrophe will be an ELITE QB in this league.

I feel bad for Tolzien. Harbs has called Smith and Kap "his guys." No mention of Tolzien.

Not really, that was different. And they offered Grant a pretty low salary to come back, and no one picked him up on the FA market.

And just the game before was named NFC offensive player of the week, broke a passer record, was the highest rated QB in pass completions, and the 3rd highest QB rating in the NFL. F'n Harbs better be right.

I took it as a bit of tongue and cheek humor.

I actually said it at the time...but while he did have a great game vs the Cardinals...it was more dumb offs, checkdowns and YAC that made the plays. Now, is it a bad thing that he did that? I'm not saying that. What I am saying is you can't deny that several times in that game he threw 1 or 2 yard routes on 3rd and long and Crabtree turned 1 into a TD and another into a 30 yd gain. Moss' TD (while still a nice play by Smith) was a 7 yard pass and 40 yards of YAC.

Smith did a great job of hitting his guys in stride on 5 yd routes and letting them run with the ball. Kaep does that too...but he also hits guys 25 yds downfield in stride and lets them run after the catch.

They won't get by Miami and they'll be lucky if they can beat Boston. So since you're so high on Rose, I don't see him doing any damage at all come playoff time.

besides, a lot of things can happen between now and then. Kaep could regress or get hurt and Smith could be back in there, or regain his spot...

But Kaep makes the offense better.... plain and simple.
