While I think Alex is perfectly capable of doing the job, Harbaugh/Roman/etc. know loads more than I do and have seen Kaepernick in practice, so I trust this decision and now hope Alex doesn't get his job back.

Sidenote: I feel absolutely awful for Alex, really do, considering all that he's been through and what he's done for the team recently, but football is football, and feelings can't be taken into account. I'm just surprised a decision came out this early

My wife caught the tweet shortly after it came out, and I was very hesitant to believe it. Talked to Samuel Lam abit and he says that Trotter is to be trusted. So while it's not official - as the team hasn't announced it yet. I'm going to have to believe that Harbuagh and Co believe Kap gives them the best chance to win. Disappointed, feel like there is a lack of loyalty - however... this is the nature of the NFL, what have you done for me in the last 60 min's?

There is no loyalty in the NFL from "management" to "employees". But there isn't any place. Don't misinterpret what I'm saying... I am 1000% behind Kaep! And I'm not self righteous enough to think I'm a better judge of who should be the 49ers starting QB than Harbaugh.

I can't believe it.

The latest reports from ESPN are saying that Harbaugh said Kaepernick's going to get first-team reps in practice, but the door is still open to start Sunday (or for the rest of the season depending on Smith's health)

The reports are saying that Alex Smith himself told Trent Dilfer via phone.

Who would you believe? This writer/reporter Jim Trotter? Or Alex Smith himself? Would Alex Smith lie? Nope.

This Kaepernick-starting report may be a false alarm. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was. If Harbaugh was playing mind games with the Saints, why would he let the story leak on a Wednesday night, around 7pm of all times?
