Reds re-sign Broxton.. enabling them to move Chapman to rotation

Jonathan Broxton and the Reds have an agreement on a multiyear deal, sources said.

The deal is believed to be for at least three years. An announcement is expected Wednesday.

Broxton is expected to be the reds closer, enabling them to move the 100-mph-throwing Aroldis Chapman to the rotation.

Broxton proved to be a versatile reliever in his time in Cincinnati, but he should be back as the ninth-inning guy.

Figured this was big news considering Broxton is one of the top relievers on the market and the Reds will finally move Chapman to the rotation.

Chapman in the rotation should be fun.

I would rather have Chapman close and Broxton setup because Chapman throws too many pitches to be a starter. however, it looks like Broxton will close and Chapman will be a starter now.

and the Reds have JJ Hoover to close if Broxton struggles.

Chapman throws too many pitches to be a starter? What does that even mean?

Chapman will obviously still be effective as a starter, but not as much as he was in the bullpen. He wont be able to throw 104-105 MPH, and he isnt going to be able to have his 20-25 pitch innings. Chapman will be good as a starter, but I still feel he would be best utilized out of the bullpen. I guess thats why im not a part of the reds organization though.

Injury concerns and pitch count will be a big deal for him. Dont want another Neftali Feliz scenario.

Does Chapman have the stamina to be a starter?

Completely different animal than starting 30+ games in a full season. I dn't know but I don't have a good feeling about Chapman as a starter. Just a gut feeling that this will turn into a Daniel Bard situation.

Is he going to work on adding a pitch or just go with the 2 he has?
