I want to get my wife a labtop for x mas. I dont know anything about laptops and want to spend less than $300. Ive also never been a MAC person either...

so the question is should I go MAC or PC? Also is there a good site any of you would recomend for either brand?

Try to get it to ship with Windows 7 if you can. Windows 8 is less than impressive to many people and if you don't have a touchscreen computer it will be less useful.

My dad has a touch screen PC and I thought Windows 8 was pretty good on it, but I was told by both he and my younger brother that same day to "fix the computer and get the old (OS) setup back".

When he gets his laptop for Christmas, I am going to have them put Windows 7 on it or buy it separate and install it if that's the only option.
