Name doesn't change because of historical significance.
But I don't think we stay at 14. I think we go 16.
Is not a great move but some people need to step off the ledge, it will be okay. A lot of over reaction
It seems apparent this move was made because it adds the Baltimore/DC market as well as the New Jersey/NYC area market as well. Competitively neither is really known for football, though Rutgers is 9-1 this year. Maryland brings a pretty good basketball program into a conference already loaded with good basketball programs. It will take some getting used to, never dreamed Nebraska would be in the same conference as Rutgers or Maryland but here we go!
Excellent addition for Rutgers. U put programs like Iowa, Nebraska, Penn ST, Ohio ST, Michigan and Rutgers will fill the stadium.
This area is starving for college football.
The summer of Mallett started in 2010 at Rooster's in Ft Smith with RM judging a Hooter's bikini contest. I understand he got inebriated and a little handsy with some of the girls. He was asked to leave. He was later heard exclaiming outside " Who gonna give Ryan Mallett a ride home".
"Who wanna give Ryan Mallett a scantron?"
The Maryland president basically said it's all about the money. Which he is 100% true.
Maryland and Rutgers will likely be in the other division (opposite of Iowa), so we won't face them too often. But when we do, I'll have to leave Thursday just to get there by Saturday![]()
I've seen some speculation that UNC, Virginia, and Georgia Tech are the next targets.
