    Blaine Gabbert Benched

    Blaine Gabbert has been benched.
Gabbert's elbow injury has him questionable for Week 12, but coach Mike Mularkey said at Monday's presser he's been benched regardless. Unless Chad Henne utterly face-plants, it's likely the No. 10 pick of the 2011 draft a player GM Gene Smith traded up for has made his final start of 2012, and possibly his career. Gabbert simply hasn't been good enough through 691 career passes, completing just 372 of them (53.8 percent) while posting a 70.2 QB rating, 6.0 YPA and 21:17 TD:INT ratio. The Jaguars offense looked like it was out on bail after Gabbert was benched Sunday. Jimmy Clausen is going to have competition for No. 3 jobs in 2013.

It's unfortunate, but there you have it. Gabbert is officially done here.

I dont think you can go far enough to say he wont start again... For this season that is certain though. Who knows... maybe this offseason he continues his growth. That said, a lot will depend on who the GM is and how the season ends.

I wouldnt say Henne or Gabbert is the one for next season. Lets see how Henne continues to play the rest of this year. Like Khan said the rest of the season is gona be an evaluation.

That could easily be blamed on the special teams and 9 dropped passes. Also, could say that about Henne too.

I dont think he would be a Schaub (although that would be an awesome thing if it happened) but i could see him as a healthy slightly more capable Garrard. He has a better arm and overall tools which will help him hold the spot until a new GM and maybe head coach make the roster thier own.

Gabbert isn't very good, get over it guys. When we bench Gabbert in place for a guy that likely isn't anything more than a good backup you know your not very good, especially when everyone, or at least I think everyone's, job is on the line.

Schaub started out as Vicks backup though unlike Henne who started for the fins pretty quick. But maybe he has improved since his poor play in Miami. We will see this week if he can continue is good play.

sooo gabbert to IR? seems his time may very well be up here.

one question tho. how does a guy go from probable to return to the game on sunday to having to be placed on IR on wednesday. this organization baffles me.

They want Henne to start so they'll place Gabbert on IR so he can be ready for camp to compete for his job.
