Yea, it won't happen because we lose that deal by giving up Dickey and Wheeler. Gordon really isn't that great. We could get more if we wanted to trade both those pitchers. And why are u drooling over that lineup? It's not very good and the last 4 spots in the order (6-9) would be a walk in the park. Way too weak at the bottom.
Niese and a mid-level guy for Myers.
Guy is a machine out there. If Ike can return to hitting like .260 you now have two young guys that are hitting 30+ homers in the middle of your lineup to go with a pitching staff featuring 2 potential aces.
SS-Tejada
2B-Murphy
3B-Wright
1B-Ike
RF-Myers
LF-Duda
CF-den Dekker
C-Thole/Platoon
SP: Dickey
SP: Harvery
SP: Wheeler
SP: Santana
SP: Gee
The problem is that the rotation because overloaded with righties
EDIT: Who would you rather have, D'Arnaud or Myers?

We lose that deal in what way? Gordon has been extremely good the past two seasons. He's under contract for about 4 more seasons. Myers is potential power stud. We can go get a catcher from somewhere by dealing Mejia/Familia with others. Tejada is a solid player to have at the bottom of the line-up, and a guy like den Dekker could be carried in the line-up short term because his defense is so good.
Dickey is going to get a nice raise so I'd prefer to have Gordon over him. I'd take Myers over Wheeler right now given our situation. Pitchers are always more risky than hitters.

this is what i was trying to say. We lose that deal if we trade Dickey, Wheeler, and Kirk for Gordon and Myers because Wheeler is a great enough prospect to get Myers straight up and no way i trade Dickey and Kirk for Gordon. Like i said before... Gordon isn't really that great and is overrated
"Even after acquiring right-hander Ervin Santana from the Los Angeles Angels, the Kansas City Royals are continuing to seek pitching and are willing to listen to trade offers for first baseman Eric Hosmer, third baseman Mike Moustakas, outfielders Alex Gordon and Wil Myers and designated hitter Billy Butler, reports Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald:
The Royals need pitching and are listening on first baseman Eric Hosmer, third baseman Mike Moustakas, outfielder Alex Gordon, DH Billy Butler and even outfield prospect Wil Myers.
While the Royals’ offense ranked around league average last season, their pitchers were close to the bottom of the majors in multiple categories. Kansas City pitchers ranked 23rd in ERA (4.30), 28th in quality starts and 27th in WHIP (1.41).
Jeremy Guthrie was a bright spot for the Royals after he was acquired from the Colorado Rockies over the summer. Unfortunately for Kansas City, Guthrie is a free agent and it’s not clear if he’ll be re-signed.
In addition to searching for rotation help via the free agent market, the Royals could also look to swap some of their young bats for talented arms. Silverman mentions that the Tampa Bay Rays, a team in need of offense, could be a match."
I would trade Dickey,Niese, and murphy for Moustakas, Will Myers, and Yordano Ventura.this would be a pipe dream but if this offer was on the table i would do it.
Trading one pitcher (niese, dickey, wheeler) is dealing from a strength. Dealing two is making a strength a weekness.
However I would offer a deal of dickey, gee, Flores, mejia, MDD and Duda.
They get 2 good starters and a high potential young arm. They also get Kirk and Duda could replace Gordon in their lineup.
I doubt the Royals would take a deal like that but if I were the mets I would offer it.

By Niese and plus I mean Niese and Familia/Mejia/Flores/Tapia/Fulmer/Nimmo and obviously Wheeler.
Also I think it would take Wheeler and something else for Myers, but not much more.

...but if Sandy can get Myers just for Niese, I would pull that deal in a heartbeat.

Metsblog had a post about a week ago saying the Mets turned down a straight up swap of Niese, for Gordon.....What are all your thoughts on that? Would you have done it? Gordon led the league in Doubles last year, but also struck out alot.
I think that is the type of guy you can get for Niese, but obviously the Mets value Niese more.
