    Atlanta and Detroit trade

Atlanta sends Josh Smith ($13.2 million, 1 year) and Anthony Morrow ($4 million, 1 year) to Detroit for Andre Drummond ($2.36 million, 4 years), Tayshaun Prince ($6.76 million, 3 years) and Corey Maggette ($10.9 million, 1 year). You could also switch out Greg Monroe ($3.22 million, 2 years).
I'm looking at this trade as a team with overlapping forwards solving their problem with a team that has overlapping centers.
This also serves as a reset for some of Detroit's bad contracts. Of course the big risk is whether Smith is willing to stay in Detroit, which I think would kill this trade. But he would fit in well on a beefy Detroit front court with Austin Daye and either Monroe or Drummond. Morrow would get a starting gig on a team that lacks a quality shooting guard.
Atlanta gets a defensive-minded center in Andre Drummond, who has so far been playing behind Monroe. Drummond allows Al Horford to play power forward, while Prince easily takes over the starting small forward position. Maggette's contract is expiring, so Atlanta gets $10 million in cap space. Meanwhile, it still has Jeff Teague and Lou Williams in the back court.

No way Detroit are giving up Drummond just to have Smith bolt in the offseason.

It could be a good deal, if Smith wouldn't just bolt. He'd actually fit well in Detroit in the front court with Daye and Monroe. Tayshaun of course would have to be traded.

Maybe, but that's a pretty huge if - Smith would bolt. Why wouldn't he? He'll be 27 and presumably wants to win, and he'll have plenty of places willing to pay him. Why would he stay in Detroit?

Nah, I'd rather have Monroe and Drummond standing tall for us than Smith. I always thought he was overrated. Also Daye doesn't even play. lol.

If this were my fantasy team, I'd do it.

Drummond stays put though. Monroe should go without saying.
Hey look everyone, it's "Vintage" Aaron Brooks.

If I were Detriot I'd rather rebuild around

    Knight - SG - SF - Monroe - Drummond

It's a really solid core, and they're a few pieces away from being a solid team for years.

Coming from an Atl fan, wouldn't mind seeing a deal including Monroe and Drummond, though I doubt Det. would give up both unless Smith signed long term first, and even that would still be a little lopsided. I put it through the trade machine, and even that shows it's highly in atlanta's favor. I even threw in DeShawn, but that didn't have much of an effect. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bncygzc

    HAWKS TRADE
    Josh Smith
    DeShawn Stevenson

    PISTONS TRADE
    Greg Monroe
    Andre Drummond
    TeShawn Prince

Even if Smith re-signed long term I don't think Detroit would do that even if you talk Monroe or Drummond out.

Forget it we're not trading two of our most promising young guys on our roster, especially not for Josh Smith.
