This extreme spending, according to Kasten, is a short term phase until the farm is formidable and a foundation of player development and home grown players is built.

I see it as a combo of this and not wanting to waste the primes of Kemp and Kershaw, especially pre-FA Kershaw.

I do like that there's a FO willing to acknowledge that having a bunch of ML players that can stick around for 3-4 years allows for the development of the farm in it's own way. Smart of Kasten...who is, of course, a smart guy.

I'm very sorry I opened the year hating the Dodgers for thinking they could be ballers. They're now one of my favorites to follow over the next few years.

lmao!! Ive been saying it for a while, get Greinke and Ryu and the Dodgers are set. Kershaw and Greinke 1&2 is just nasty. Greinke is a legit 2 pitcher and Beckett will be solid at 3. Bills and Ryu I am sure are capable of dominating a game as well. Needs to happen first but I love what I am reading so far about the Dodgers seemingly unlimited payroll. lol.
