He should but he won't. I think Amare might be willing to, I just don't think a Franchise is willing to bench a 20 mil a year man. I think the solution is to pull amare after 6 mins in the 1st then put him back in at the beginning of the 2nd. Gives both him and melo time to operate w/out one another + both start and finish games. I think there can be times when Amare and Melo will play together at the 4 and the 5. Imagine a Felton, Kidd, JR, Melo, Amare lineup. Not the best defensively, but would just destroy in the halfcourt.

Back to your question I would start smith at the 3 or the 2 and do a felton, shumps, jr, melo, chandler lineup with priggs, kidd, brewer, sheed, amare off the bench. Both lineups would be scary.

I agree and I credit the Knicks training staff for focusing on his conditioning during training camp rather than basketball

Idk when this was made but there's been times I wanted she'd over chandler and wanted shed with chandler and melo with Kidd and Felton ..for size ..

Amare melo and shed would be a very tough grouping to play against since we have height and power plus all has a decent range to shoot or well assuming stat can shoot when he comes back lol

If Sheed was in better condition, he's shown stretches of being capable of being a starter in this league. I know he's had his rough spots, like the Spurs game where his 3 didn't fall (even though they were wide open and he's in there to take that shot), but he's been big for the Knicks.

Obviously he was there for them in the Pacers game. The Knicks were basically Melo and Sheed's offense in the 1st half when points were hard to come by (Raymond had a stretch too where he got it going). His ability to score is obviously there, BUT he may also be valuable in the size he brings around the basket. I mean most valuable, because he can defend guys like Gasol and not get forced under the basket like pretty much every other one of the bigs (Tyson included was getting bullied) and he took it to them on the other end downlow.

I said all that to say this....this guy was supposed to be the 13th or 14th man off the bench (between he and Kurt ). How's that for depth. The Knicks have guys who can legitimately play the 4/5 in Tyson/Camby/Amare/Sheed/Kurt/ plus Melo at 4. A killer rotation for swing players including Melo and Shump, and a killer pg trio (maybe can include Shump there).

The versatility and depth is scary
