White Sox to sign Jeff Keppinger

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/1...keppinger.html

The only detail known about his contract is that it's for 3 years.

I'm not too high on this signing. But 3yrs for some marginal players seems to be the rate in this FA market.
Hopefully they sign a platoon partner for him like Chavez.

Keppinger three-year deal with #WhiteSox for about $12M.

I can live with that. If the Sox have other/better options later on, he can slide into a utility role.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal hears that Jeff Keppinger's three-year deal with the White Sox is worth around $12 million.

This is right in line with estimates we have heard over the past 24 hours. The White Sox bought high on Keppinger after he batted .325/.367/.439 with nine homers, 40 RBI and an .806 OPS this past season. The 32-year-old broke his right fibula when he fell down a flight of stairs at his house, but he should be ready to be the ChiSox regular third baseman in 2013.

Really thought he was going to be a Yankee.

I guess 3 years was too much for them though.

3 years isnt the end of the world for a guy who can play so many positions. There's always going to be a use for him in Chicago over the next 3 years.

I was hoping he would be a Yankee as well, potentially as a platoon with Chavez.

What's the sense with Youk? Is he realistic for you guys? Gotta say I hope not, because I can't stop rooting for him.

They were linked to him, and it will become more of a possibility as all of the third base options out there are signing elsewhere.

I've always like him, ever since he played for the Reds. i was kind of hoping they would sign him, but they didn't even talk to him.

Am I the only one who thinks he's bad? He's put up a negative WAR in about half his seasons. He won't be able to repeat last season.
