    Dwayne Murphy

The guy needs to go, or as Ive read elsewhere bring in a second philosophy alongside him, yea we have two former batting champs (if you include the first half of cabreras season) but we all know baseball is not a game of history but rather a complex process where swings are revisited at any given players slump. I would hate to see reyes become a violent see it and mash it type player. It especially important for our younger hitters like arencibia and rasmus to not buy into his philosophy.

I've long thought that both Dwayne Murphy and Bruce Walton need to be fired, but Murphy is credited with Bautista's emergence as a star player and probably even given some of the credit for Encarnacion, so I can't see him getting axed.

Hasn't AA told all of his coaches to get their resumes updated? Pretty sure he's gonna let the next Manager hire his own staff.

Could be wrong in my understand of that though.

I hadn't heard that but it sounds very reasonable. I'm pretty sure when he hired Farrell, he gave him permission to fill out the staff on his own. He just chose to keep many of Cito's guys because the Jays were coming off an 85 win season in which many of the pitchers had overachieved and the lineup had hit like the 4th most home runs in american league history or something.

that is actually one worry that I have..

next thing you know, spring training will come and we'll have Murphy convincing Reyes, Melky, and Izturis that they can hit 20 HRs each

    props to vick27m

A new Manager will want to surround himself with coaches he feels comfortable with. Some stay and some go. We've already lost 2 so who ever comes in needs to replace them and I would think that if he feels he has an upgrade to Murphy that he wants, I'm sure AA will take it into consideration.

Helped Bautista but so now he's gonna have a job for life? And Jose certainly puts in his own work as well.

And Murphy had nothing to do with Edwin's resurgence this year. Its all rested on Luis Mercedes, who I've mentioned several times as the guy who is credited with helping him.

Here's an interview with Edwin describing Mercedes being the reason he did well last season:

I wasn't saying I agreed with that rationale, but that I thought it was the rationale being used to justify his further employment.

I know, but I think being in the right place at the right time will allow him to take credit (in part) for some of Encarnacion's success.

Again, I'm in favor of dismissing Murphy because he tries to impose his pull logic on everyone, and not just the players that are suited to it.

Murphy is a first pitch smash the ball out of the park guy. Doesnt believe in plate discipline whatsoever.

    Dwayne Murphy

Generally a new manager gets to pick his own staff, especially if its an established guy. Front office makes suggestions certainly, but I wouldn't be surprised to see one or both of Murphy and Walton gone.

Technically speaking, there are no coaches. They're all unemployed at the moment (save for Butterfield and Lovullo, of course.) Their contracts have ended. They may or may not be resigned.

Murphy needs to go. I hope our new manager does not believe in trading obp for more home runs and he gets someone else other than murphy.

Murphy is a power guy... we have enough power... our guys all know how to swing for power..we need a coach who can help guys like Rasmus and Lind and izturis and lawrie and jpa hit for average and get on base... we get them goin along with the other established guys we will be awesome in 2013

I just cant imagine a scenario where a new manager comes in and thinks that Murphy did such a good job that he needs to stick around. I really hope Mottola gets a shot with us because I feel that otherwise another team's gonna steal him away pretty soon.

jays did lead the league in runs mid way. And as I understand it, Mottola is part of the 2013 blue jays team. So I'm ok with murph

I'm just blown away of the offensive upside of these 2013 jays. They were leading the league in runs with bautista having a poor start, Lind and johnson having crappy starts.

    they've added great bats
    they've added great speed
with (hopefully) better years from lawrie, lind, JPA, rasmus

    wow
