    Jamison's Contribution

I know his playing like crap but its not his fault. His averaging 3.9 ppg , only getting 3.6 shot attempts while playing 16 min.

Jamison needs to get more minutes, around 28, and ball hog the bench.

its very sickening to watch him play worse then eddy curry

Everything about Jamison's play is struggling. He is currently shooting 10 percentage points below his career field goal percentage. His free throw percentage is faltering. He is shooting 15% behind the three point line.

Many equate his age to his current struggles, but that is an easy way out. Jamison still looks like the player he was last year, but has struggled to get anything going this season. If the Lakers want to compete for a trip to the NBA Finals, they will need a lot more from Jamison off the bench, especially if they want to challenge the Miami Heat.

Towards the latter end of his career, it is now or never for Antawn Jamison

agreed I think D'Antoni will put him in a position to get better looks. He can obviously still ball but we just aren't using him the right way. Pringles I think will let his guys free and see where they are all comfortable which will be good for Antaawn

    He's too passive.

But I'll give him a chance to redeem himself.

At the beginning of the season he was playing out of position. The new offense better suits him and his skill set. He will get better as he gets more comfortable in the offense. Right now he is just trying to figure out where he belongs and what his role will be on this team.

D'antoni will get him going. Jamison is still too offensively gifted for the coaching staff to let him waste away on the bench.

there is a problem jamison isn't a 3 pt specialist.

    here's a news flash he's a post player.

he's just like pau in that his strength is on the low block on the post.

but we also have d12, pau, kobe, mwp who's strength is also on the post ha.

and also he's probally better at PF rather than SF and due to our roster he's forced to float on the perimeter.

and if you only get 2 shots a game and no easy shots but just 3 pters alone its easy to be in the slump he's in.

if the guy gives you nothing on defense and then nothing on offense what's the point in having him here?

i like jamison b/c he's from unc. if you want to get jamison going give him some shots in the low post and then after that maybe he can hit a jumper. but i agree he has to be more aggressive especially if he's with 3 other bench players. i think the other night when at the close of a game he was out there with the starters that gave him some confidence. i think he's trying to be like pau in too unselfish.

He is better at PF and I have a feeling that D'antoni will run some "small-ball" line-ups where he has Jamison playing the 4.

I look for Jamison to play a role similar to what Shawn marion played when he was on the Suns.

I have been very disappointed by Jamison. I was really excited when we signed him.

We might have a case of a logjam at the 4 and 5 spots. I hope the coaching staff figures this out. They usually like to put in either gasol or howard with the 2nd unit, along with Jordan Hill. Plus we don't have a suitable backup for Artest. Which leaves the option of putting jamison at the 3 the only choice.

This is a great post and i agree it's now or never for Antawn he's never going to be in a better situation to succeed ...he needs to be more aggressive on the offensive side of the ball and start looking for his shot .

personally i think gasol is a C not PF. he can't guard faried, millsap, that free agent PF from golden state i believe as well as many other players. and lets remember melo and lebron are playing 4 now ha some.

but my point is he's expendable. i like the josh smith trade. younger, more defensive. and josh can play some 3 as well maybe. but d12 's best friend and what better way to keep d12 in la keep him happy. and we are keeping nash happy with his coach.

we don't need jamison and pau. 1mil vs 20 mil? hum what would you do? its a no brainer. i don't know about you guys but in mike's system...

there is one player at the top PF, one Center at the high post, then 2 players on one side at 3 pt line and on the other side other wing another player. and i don't know about you but i don't want pau ever shooting a 3 pter in a game. EVER NEVER EVER and to do it at the last shot and then not even apologize for a bad decision is unforgiveable. he's a cry baby out there and a wimp.

is he a better overall player than josh smith? skilled yes. but to be honest i don't care how skilled you are bring 100% or find another home. and pau just doesn't bring it and he plays too passive.

personally i don't think we need jamison either. we use 3 big man rotation last year so why can't we do the same thing with joshsmith/d12/j.hill?

we need a pietres to help at SF

    nash / blake
    kobe / meeks
    mwp /pietres
    j.smith / j.hill (as both PF and C)
    d12

and there you go your 9 man rotation. personally i would rather delonte west but seems like mike has high praise for blake already idk why just when he starts to play well he gets hurt.

so as far as i'm concerned duhon, ebanks, clark, jamison, sacre, djo are all expendable as well as blake and morris but i do think under nash morris can be a very good player given his athletic ability and speed and height and length and driving and passing skills along with much improved shooting.

he's more of a post up player and mid range shooter, but on the lakers he's been forced outside a lot, shooting 3's. not really his game

but that said i would still keep jamison for vet min just in case hill gets hurt. and jamison at SF/PF and j.hill at PF/C. and josh smith at SF/PF mostly PF. and then if j.hill gets hurt maybe sacre gets 5 min at C some idk.
