    Carlos Quentin Retires

I think it's a real shame he never got another shot after the Padres. If you look at his home road splits during the Pads years he was actually still a very good DH. Kinda surprised it didn't work out with Seattle but I hear he may have gotten injured again.

Really a damn shame... there was a time when we all thought he was the next Frank Thomas. It's a shame he couldn't stay healthy after 2008.
Son, you just don't get it, i'm talking bout TWTW!

Quentin and Mags were very far apart, never close to playing together IIRC.

We let go of Mags at the perfect time IMO.

He was never close to the same player he was when healthy IMO. He had one GREAT year in Detroit (like, really great.....363, 28 hr, 1.000+ ops)

But he was still at his best here. I miss Maggs.

I went to the game where he hit two HR's off Lackey (one being a walk-off) and promptly went to Grandstand's and ordered me an away Quentin jersey. Just wore it on Wednesday to the game.

HR numbers went down in Detroit to the middle 20s his first 4 years to non-existed his last couple of years but was still hitting in the low .300s in his 7 seasons there.

Money issues was his reason with the front office, but i bet he never imagine he would miss out on a ring with his only two losses in 06 and 10.

Just felt if he stayed, that OF in 07 is more deep and maybe we would solved our 3B problem with a guy we can get 6-8 years from not worrying about the OF.

And maybe Adam Dunn never comes here.

What a shame. CQ was crushing the ball for the SOX til that hand injury but that was expected when you stand right on the top of the plate. We actually named are puggle puppy we got 6yrs ago Carlos after him. I told my wife n kids we should now change his name to Avi but they said no, lol. Anyhow, enjoy retirement 'Thee Carlos Quentin' and thanks for the memories + my dogs name.

With out that injury in 08 he probably ends the year with 45 HR's and the Sox go to the World Series. That was a serious offense with him Thome, Paulie,Swisher, and Dye.

I remember it well, that year was exciting. Don't forget about KG jr., he was a deadline day pick up.
