    The problem with the M's,TV's

They are willing to spend $10 million on a new TV for the hydro races, but can't get players to come play here.

That's not their fault players don't want to play here.

The budgets are different, but I see what you are saying.

Hard to tell if they don't want to spend, or just cant.

Apparantly we are looking at a payroll around what it was last year, maybe a little more. That leaves $25-30M for FAs. That means Hamilton eats most of it up. We need more than one player.

Hey every indication is that we have more money, and we are willing to spend. So it is just a matter of finding the right players to say yes. Bringing in the fences, and adding the giant HD screen is all out of a different fund.

Yeah that argument is completely irrelevant. It's not like we're using free agent money on our new HD screen.

I will damn near guarantee they're pulling a 2012 Marlins on us.

They're going to upgrade significantly at the stadium and toss a chunk of money into free agents and the roster.

If anything, this screen news tells me they're even more willing to spend now.

Also, OP did you know they offered a significant contract to Fielder?

IMO Mariners have always been about the fan experience at the stadium first. What other MLB team have you known to have a "knitting night" at the ballpark?

It's different money. It's not like the payroll just jumped to $70M cause of the screen. They are responsible for upgrades and stuff to Safeco, and that's a completely different budget.

    agree.

as a baseball purist i dont really care about the screens but its an encouraging move for the ownership.

truth is on any given night probably 50% of fans that attend games do not know half the roster, they go for an experience.

i think the tvs will easily get pd off by all the fans who will have that extra reason to check a game, and if we have a good product it will assist in capturing repeat customers.

I believe this Television needs a nickname something that the fans can get behind, we could use that special mojo essence from '01..

This could actually be beneficial for free agency! Moving the fences in and you get to play in a stadium with a HUGE HD screen in center field.
