    Jack Taylor ..

surprised i havnt seen this thread. and true its sports related and technically college basketball... but its sizable news when a guy scores 138 points in a college basketball game.. im sure alot of people have heard by now.. Jack Taylor of Grinnell college ..

his stat line was 138 points. 0 assists.. on 52/108 shooting.. im not even sure what to say about that ... this is impressive but honestly how impressive? .. 0 assists didnt even shoot 50 % .. i dunno what to make of that, new NCAA record ...

Seeing it has nothing to do with the NBA, it's safe to be discussed here.

A player on the other team scored 70 points as well. He was much more effective from the field as well (in terms of accuracy).

Yeah, didn't that kid go like 34/44? Much more impressive. Other then the fact that someone actually took 108 shots.

Yeah when I saw he score 138, I though for sure it would have been much less that 108 shots

i put it in the nba forum knowing it would get a lot of interest until it was moved to the college basketball forum. not sure how that's a random place to put it since the nba forum on this site is probably one of the most visited forums.

the highlights show defense being played, however they only showed about 4 different shots. I swear he must have had a layup line going or something

The system as explained by the coach....

    • The first shot is the best shot, no matter if it's from five feet or 25 feet, preferably 25 feet.

    • Take as many 3-pointers as possible.

    • Defensively, giving up an uncontested layup is better than forcing a shot-clock violation.

    • The ball-handler is double-teamed at all times.
The offense is centered around taking as many 3-point shots as possible even if that means allowing the other team uncontested shots.

Is it impressive? Yeah. But the system and fact that these schools are smaller than most high schools to me means it shouldn't be given the same credit as a D-1 college record.

Its about the equivalent of saying a quarterback throws for 800 yards in a high school football game only to find out it was Southeastern Dallas Baptish Academy vs Texas State Youth Correctional Facility and was 8-on-8 flag football....

That coach deserves to be fired. I'm on JV right now and even know that what he's teaching is ridiculous.
