    ouch! low blow.

    a former MLB GM Jim Dukette (sp?) is on tim and sid right now and says that this sort of deal shouldn't be vetoed. Marlins got some good pieces.

    EDIT: "I am aware of the anger,'' Selig said. "I am. I'm also aware that in Toronto they're very happy"

    f that, did he take their feelings into consideration during the 2 previous fire sales or when Loria singlehandedly ruined the Montreal Expo's??????, why should he start listening now???????

    It's for show. This way Bud looks all concerned about what happened, that he's on top of it and that should anything like it happen in the future he may act (Harr!).

    It's a legit baseball trade and will go through, I have zero doubt of that.

    This is all optics and Selig trying to save some face for MLB.

    now what are the cons to not vetoing the deal?

    - fans in Miami's market will never come back.
    - nobody will ever publicly fund a stadium again.

    feeling sick to my stomach right now...
    more like fans in toronto will refuse to come to the park -- why are miami fans more important? and thats not our problem, loria is an idiot. this would never happen in most other markets.

    plus he is justified by the fact the team had no chemistry and was drowning. it has internal problems with guys like lomo and hanley. team was last place, he is justified also for blowing up the team -- why pay over $150 mil to a team that probably isnt contending anyways this year? he's got some legit prospects coming back that could help them in the future. red sox fans didnt sulk when gonzo was gone, get a life florida fans. jays havent been to the playoffs in 20 years while florida has won two world series, so you can understand why im not exactly bringing out the violin to sulk for those morons in south beach who dont care for baseball anyways.

    thats true, bridge has already been burned, it would be very awkward to not do this deal now.

    not to mention the jays guys who would feel awkward coming back here.

    i updated my previous post. Selig also said he's aware of how happy jays fans are but there are too many variables to review and will take time

    @jamiecballer

    I completely understand where you're coming from, this situation makes me sick to my stomach as well but the Marlin fans need to be thankful that they still have a team, they need to go talk to some Expo fans. Selig did this to himself for letting Loria even purchase a team, what a decision to make, let the trade go through and piss off the Marlin fans and the city of Miami or veto this trade and piss of the entire country of Canada????????, Florida's got another team so I wouldn't want to piss off your only team in Canada

    fans are pissed anyways...even if the traded was veto, you think they are coming back? miami is not a baseball market, stop pretending. move the team to oklahoma city or something.
