Might be a kicker, but give Old Faithful a little more credit!

Kickers have won and lost Super Bowls. Ended seasons. Countless playoff wins and playoff appearances because of kickers. Give the guys some credit. The run of the mill good kicker shouldn't get the clout, but a guy like Hanson with his records is definitely something special.

Jan Stenerud is the only player in the Pro Football Hall of Fame who was only a place kicker. He kicked for the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings between 1967-1985. He ended his career with 1,699 total points which ranks 10th all time as of the 2009 season.
    Stats-wise, Hanson has em beat.

But its just darn near impossible for kickers to get in. you would think that both Andersons would be in there but are not. Maybe they havent been retired long enough?

And Hanson won't get in the HOF either. Kickers and Punters aren't considered athletes.

Mmmk, have Hanson try to fill any other role on the team, and then have the players spot he is filling take over kicking, see who is doing better at the others job. Sure it takes athleticism to kick footballs the way he does, but it's only a small iota of what it takes to do any other position

Do you not remember when Suh attempted to kick an extra point?? Pull that back to 55 yards out with wind playing a factor. Takes a lot more than just athleticism. So much of other positional players' abilities come from pure athletic, god given talent.

The kickers aren't a fan favorite position...not even close. But outside of the QB I don't think there's a single player who has more pressure on them when they're out on the field.

doesn't matter what I consider them because I don't vote for HOF. There's a reason why K and P don't get into the HOF. They aren't respected enough.

"It's hard for me to believe that, as great as this game is, there are no punters and one kicker in the Hall of Fame," Belichick said. "We can argue that they only play 'X' number of plays and everybody else plays a different number of plays, but they're still significant players at their position."

Belichick took issue with the selection process. The Hall of Fame selection committee is composed of 44 writers.

"I don't know if it's a popularity contest or if it's a political thing," Belichick said. "I don't know what it is. I don't see any consistency. I don't understand it."
