That's not enough to be a finalist when you are that far behind in K's and other things.

Park adjusted, it was a solid year, top 5 certainly. But I never thought he had a real shot at the award.

We shouldn't be surprised Price won. Verlander was clearly better, but the same rationale for giving Verlander the MVP in 2011 is why Price won the Cy over Verlander in 2012. Because all the writers are looking at is W-L.

And no, that's not a typo when I said MVP for Verlander, as Miguel Cabrera should have won MVP in 2011.

But that's the Price you pay when you only look at W/L record.

People are getting way out of hand with this.

I think Verlander should have won, but an argument could be made for Price and he got the benefit of people looking at his tough division competition.

As for the NL, the numbers for Dickey and Kershaw were very close in almost every category. With it being such a tight race, wins ended up being a tie breaker. Dickey had 20 wins on a worse team so it tipped the scales in his favor. Had Kershaw gotten 17 or 18 wins, he probably gets the award.

That said congrats to both winners. Both had very good seasons

Which he should've. There were nine games where Kershaw pitched 7IP+ and allowed 3 runs or less and either got the L or ND and 3 games where he pitched 7IP+ and gave up 2 runs or less and got the L. Dickey had only four games where he pitched 7IP+ and gave up 3 or less and got the L or ND and had only 2 games where he got the L for pitching 7IP+ and gave up 2 runs or less. But obviously not every pitcher is going to win those games, just sucks that Kershaw was on the short end of the stick and I'm sure the 20 wins swing the vote in favor or Dickey. Nothing against Dickey, he definitely earned this award.

Although Kershaw was the best pitcher in the NL, his record did not help his case. Therefore, imo, was a toss up between Gio, Cueto & RA Dickey.

In the AL, David Price was a fine choice, however, JV could also have made an argument.

Was hoping Dickey would get it. Nice. Could have gone to Kershaw no issue as well, but that can be part of his lore later.
