Gio did not perform close to kershaw in a large majority of statistical areas so it was easy to put kershaw over him...Wins are the reason why dickey crushed Kershaw. It will never change.

There are several voters on that list that are highly sabr guys, that I know completely dismiss wins, and they gave it to Dickey.

    Wins are irrelevant.

Otherwise, why did Gio get third? Why did Lohse did so poorly?

Kershaw was 15th in the NL in wins, and got 2nd in the Cy Young.

If wins mattered, how come nobody gave Lance Lynn a vote? What about A.J. Burnett? or Barry Zito?

All of those guys had more wins than Kershaw, who got 2nd.

Wins still don't matter, the voters know that.
Easy. Voters looked into sabr stats and found Dickey and Kershaw very close with perhaps an edge going to Kershaw. Then they saw those sexy 20 wins Dickey rang up and gave him the nod.

5 fifth place votes for Kershaw prove that this was all about wins .... why else would Kershaw be fifth when he beat everyone in everything?

I am saying Kershaw deserved to win but if anyone actually thought he had a shot you are fooling yourselves. The voters will not give the nod to the better pitcher if the traditional stats are close and he is that far back in wins.

he didn't beat everyone in everything. It was close, in almost every way.

I am telling everyone, this is not about the wins.

If you guys can find the voters, defending their votes by saying they gave the nod to Dickey over Kershaw because of his wins, then I will back down. But it is not WHY Dickey won.

They were very close, in a lot of ways.

If Kershaw didn't have a hip injury that caused him to miss two starts and a horrible offense for the most part ... he would of beat an average pitcher and an old man easily .... dammit ....

Winning the cy young dont mean he was better. Jeter won 5 gold gloves. These awards are still meaningless when gauging how good players are.

I guess I should be easy on mets fans. They need this since their team has been pathetic for years and will continue to be.

No. Theres multiple stats. And your other post just shows why you should never be a voter. "Kershaw was the previius boring winner and dickey has the story, id vote for" dickey. Great ****ing logic there.

Oh yeah ... it's a shame Kershaw's legacy just had a wasted year with nothing to show... when he was the best ... damn you injuries, etc
