LeBron is gonna have a case when it's all said in done. Jordan is the majority GOAT not the unanimous GOAT. People need to remember that.
Wilt was the pre-eminent athlete of his era, like Jordan. Both were incredibly dominant, BUT I think Jordan has the edge over any argument because he was such an assassin at the end of games.

Once Lebron left Cleveland to team with Wade I stopped looking at him at that level.

Wilt, Magic, Bird all had flaws in their games. I hate to be a Jordan defender, but I can't think of a flaw in his game. Great defender, low post game (which is forgotten about), great foul shooter, passing ability, superior athlete, and most important was clutch. All the ingredients of being the GOAT to me...

All-time: Noone in NBA history. Kareem and Wilt come closest.
    Favourite Teams:

Boston Red Sox: 5-8, games this week vs. Chicago White Sox (3), Baltimore (3)
Indianapolis Colts: 11-5, 2013 AFC South Champs, great season guys.
Looking for new NBA team to cheer for
Ottawa Senators: 37-31-14, season over, good effort guys.

it doesn't count considering he never asked for a DUO better than one person

Lebron and Durant both led their teams to great comebacks last night and were pretty damn clutch. I won my parlay because of them, I am forever thankful.

"i'm not sure if this counts.." does not say "this doesn't count". even so, why the **** would you even compare a duo to one player?

And I've seen in discussions on here lately how some people feel Kobe or Wade should be ranked among the all-time greats, but it seems that for most people Jordan is the clear-cut number one. I admit that, being a Detroit fan from back in the day, I hated Jordan, but I always recognized his greatness. That said, I don't think Jordan is the clear-cut greatest player of all time. I think there were players in his own generation that were as good and perhaps better than him, though I have come to appreciate what he did throughout his career (I mean, that season where he averages 32 points, 8 assists AND 8 rebounds a game to go along with almost 3 steals while shooting 53% from the floor! CRAZY!!! Will never be matched again I think).

So that said, who do you think is better than Jordan, and why? And if you do have Jordan ranks as the greatest of all time, what is the one player you think is in the conversation with Jordan? And while we are on the topic, which season do you think was Jordan's best?
    __________________________________________________ ________________________________________________

For me, Bird and Magic were obvious picks because they both had such great all-around games. They were both better playmakers than Jordan, and both and both shot at a higher percentage than Jordan. Jordan's one-on-one defence was better than both, and he was likely the best pure scorer, but Bird was the better shooter.

As for his era specifically, because I think Bird and Magic were both of their own era (the 80's), the guys who I thought competed on the same level as Jordan were; Barkley, Malone, Hakeem, Robinson and Stockton. I put a lot of value into rebounding the ball, so Barkley, Malone, Hakeek and Robinson all ranks high with because of that, but they were also all great scorers who shot at a higher percentage than Jordan, though Jordon is the best pure scorer of the lot, and though Jordan was the better play maker than any of them, they were each very good player makers for their respective positions, Barkley perhaps the best of the lot. Jordon though, I think is is fair to say, aged better than all of them save Malone. Hakeem and Robinson were both great defenders as well, amazing shot-blocks and they both got a lot of steals. As for Stockton, well, he, like Jordan, was a guard, and so having a high FG% was a little harder for him (you expect post players to have high FG%s than guards), but Stockton's FG% and 3pt% were both higher than Jordan, and Stockton is the greatest play maker in the history of the game. Stockton played that part of the game better than anybody before him, and better than anybody since. His one-on-one defense was not as good as Jordan, and though Stockton was the better shooter, Jordan was the more versatile scorer, but Stockton's team-defense (he was a great help defender, even as a rookie) and ability to pass the guarding lanes warrants some great appreciation. Stockton aged very well as well, which before him was very rare for a PG (one need look not further than Isiah Thomas who was considered in his prime to be one of the best PG in the history of the game and by 32 was no longer performing at an All-Star level and was perhaps the biggest reason why Detroit fell off the map so quickly after being swept by the Bulls in 1991, despite having a relatively young core group of players).

As for the generation since Jordan, Duncan, Garnett, Shaq and LBJ are the guys I would put in the conversation as playing at Jordan's level. I wouldn't say any of the above mentioned players are better than Jordan, but I think they all played on the same level as Jordan during their primes.

JORDAN came in 84 season so hes as much as 80's as he is 90's, just 2yrs off since he played for 8yrs in 90's and 6 in 80's

Mediacorporate wise JORDAN allday, nobody can touch him(that tongue wag sewed it up)

but its a nice circle of players who had 'game' on his level and many who showed more sheer dominance, instilled same fear(SHAQ-AI come offtop)..i mean that 'come fly wit me' JORDAN was pretty much all athlete with developing skill, he didnt have both equal coming in NBA like a IVERSON

    we talking about 'game' right?

you know the type you display on hardwood, regardless if you win a ring or not right?

JORDAN just swamped everybody OFFENSIVELY for most part and has a mass following like the Christians thanks to MCDONALS/NIKE/FRUIT OF LOOM/GATORADE/ESPN and other favorable media outlets

and for those saying JORDAN was a lockdown defender

thats bs, he would just have 40-45pts and his opponent would have 20-25pts or so,thats not lockdown, thats just outballing your opponent..so yea i agree he smashed his opponent more time than not, but lockdown is once again giving him more props than deserved..nobody plays lockdown D annually when they have to drop 35ppg or so, he did it for that 1yr when he won DPOY,then he moved on and just started playing 2ndhalf/4th qtr lockdown D, that was him and PIPP's bread and butter on 2nd 3peat....

but he showed me alot when he dropped like 33ppg and 11apg in that 91FINALS, thats a tough combo right there

i've never seen JORDAN lockdown a G.HILL or AI or PENNY or S.SMITH or R.MILLER or DREXLER, he just outscores them or gets played equally or slightly outplayed(IVERSON-HILL-PENNY)

JORDAN is easily top 5,but if SHAQ/WILT/ALCINDOR had been actually drafted by the LAKERS it wouldnt even be ****ing close on who the GOAT would be, not even close..that LAKERbase wouldnt know what to do with a 100pt game scorer who would have avg 50ppg and then had ALCINDOR as leading alltime scorer for 1team, and we all was calling SHAQ a modernday DIPPER...

Wilt. The best individual player ever witnessed. But MJ has the best overlap in win columns and individual accomplishments.
