sooo, although I have never really gave it too much thought I probably support early term abortion, let me just play devil's advocate. If we quantify a man robbing a bank and spreading those millions of dollars amongst the needy in the city, should we now hope for this to help push policy makers toward making it legal? My point being, these policy makers are not basing their policy off of economic/emotional impact, rather they are basing it off what they believe to be the murder of an innocent child. There are many things which can lead to better situations for many people, are we to expect they all become legalized?

This robbing and spreading money amongst the needy is not a good analogy. Robbing a bank steals money from people, destabilizes economic systems, and causes a lack of trust in the banking system. This would lead to an economic disadvantage for all. Even the people given the money

let's also say another study quantifies the positive benefit if an unfit mother who might give her child up for adoption were to kill it instead, thus reducing the resources spent on that child.

It might make sense to kill all retarded people from a financial level.... but we don't do this, our society has deemed this unacceptable. Going to the extreme only makes the point that the extreme isn't going to happen. What we have is something that has been declared legal in our society but women are still denied the service. In doing so it's to great detriment to these womens' financial, physical and mental well-being.

Yea, this is kinda the conclusion I had come to earlier, which is why its hard for me to really stand up for one side or the other. I'm definitely pro choice, but at the same time there's gotta be some kinda limit as to how far into a pregnancy abortion can be performed at. Where that line is drawn seems completely arbitrary either way. My personal opinion on where that line should be drawn has religious basis, so I can't really expect to force that on anyone else...
