Cubs Sign Scott Baker [1 year/5.5 million+1.5 escalators]
Discuss. (Details coming)
Personally, I love the signing. Would have loved a 1 year + team option but whatevs.

I like it (depending on the $$). Has a lot to prove, mostly that he's healthy. Like the move by Theo and company
Peripherals are really nice. Doesn't walk a million guys like many of the pitchers we've talked about. Extreme fly ball pitcher, so pray the schedule doesn't give him the wind blowing out at Wrigley too many times.
Obviously, health a huge wild card as he missed all of last season after forearm surgery.

Wait, apparently it was TJS. So we basically get to pay for his rehab year.
Fine as a fifth starter. As long as we aren't picturing him as anything more than that, I'm OK.
Money isn't bad. More than likely will live up to the contract. HR/FB and FB% scare me. Should be nothing more than a 4-5 starter.
Guys he has to be worth essentially 1 win...pretty sure he'll reach that, even in a rehab year (he's averaged 2.4 per season over basically seven seasons)
Cubs Sign Scott Baker to 1 Year Deal
Like this move. It's definitely a low risk, high reward deal and he will make a good addition to our rotation

Isn't the real value going to come when he is traded in July ? If he isn't traded what is the point of signing an injured player to a 1 year deal on a bad team.
Wonder if this means we aren't getting Liriano now.
