Because one surged and one struggled in the last month, one was able to pass up the other. It was a close race and sometimes when there are close races little things like that swing the vote. They both had very good year long stats.
When comparing pitchers wins should be thrown out. They don't show much of anything. Phil Hughes had 18 wins. Doesn't make him a good pitcher.

I agree to a point, wins are very overrated. but you can't just ignore them all together. 3.33 ERA/1.18 WHIP are still impressive.
one thing someone could use to discredit (or whatever) Miley is K/9 because Miley only had 6.66 K/9. but I don't think he should be devalued because he doesn't get a lot of K's.
^ within this topic. this is the first time I looked up Miley on fangraphs to find out his K/9. that's 6.66 K/9, I'm not making that up. 666. devil number.

Harper deserved the ROY over Miley, on September 1st, certainly Miley or Frazier, but Harper turned it on.
Harper produced a 5 WAR, his season created more value than Miley's in several ways, and he was better comparative to his peers than Miley was.
He deserved the award. It wasn't just his name.

It was close in the voting,
Harper 112 Pts - 70% - 16 1st place votes
Miley 105 Pts - 66% - 12 1st place votes

i find it ridiculous that anyone would say that Harper was more talked about than trout, Mike Trout is the only thing i heard about all year.
Harper was the more hyped prospect, and it's fair to see why especially coming into the draft.
