    Houston Astros Discussing Hideki Matsui

The Astros, who will join the AL West in 2013, have had internal discussions about Hideki Matsui, General Manager Jeff Luhnow told Daily Sports (Japanese link, passed along by Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker on Twitter). Matsui signed a minor league deal with the Rays in April and was later DFA'd and released over the summer.

I thought this was a little amusing.
the Astros now in the AL will have to have a DH, and are looking to bring in a new player for that role. maybe someone in charge looked at the list of free agents who could DH and saw Matsui's name. oh hey he used to be a really good DH, lets get him.
    Matsui was terrible in 2012.
I'm sure he could be had really cheap, but I wouldn't want to just assume he is going to be your full time DH next season.

Hopefully for the Astros they get someone better. Plenty of better suited hitters out there

Would you trust a blind scout? Of course you wouldn't but that's what you do when you simply go by stats

I think it'd be good for them. An international fanbase would certainly be good for the franchise.

Don't teams 'have internal discussions' about damn near everyone? You guys respond like they're about to back the Brinks truck up and hand him the DH spot.

    Minor signings and trades

Perhaps we can use this thread to discuss minor free agent signings and trades as they happen. There are players that sign that probably don't deserve their own thread, but people may want to talk about it.

    I'll start it with this:
Detroit Tigers sign former Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shawn Hill to minor league contract
