Its possible he advised his agent not to solicit any offers because he wanted to come back to the Knicks. Nobody knows at this point but it never really seemed in question JR was coming back and he was locked up early in the process.

Honestly Melo being paid more than Lebron is what makes me thinks his is the worst.

If not, than Camby, guy will probably on injured reserve making $4million

Best: Felton, Novak, Brewer, and I think Prigioni

    THIS IS HOW I ROLLE!

We gotta somehow get brewer locked up for a few more years..... This would be devastating if we lost him after this season!!!!

If JR keeps playing like this, there is no way that the Knicks MLE will keep him. The Knicks FO will have to win another EBR and take a cap hit in 2013 if they want to keep JR. But I think Woodson has tapped into the dimensions of JR Smith that everyone was talking about but no one has ever seen consistently. As much as dislike aspects of JR's game, I have all the respect in the world for his athleticism and hustle.

However, does anybody think JR has what it takes to be a starter and take less shots? Could he make the transition a la James Harden?

So its a myth then, or at least not based on anything? I mean, i buy into that kind of drivel too.

I've heard both sides on sports radio. That he turned down other offers and others questioning what were these offers.

I thought the knicks can throw a deal of 5 million a year at JR smith, just like they did with Novack because they have his 2 year Bird rights???

I think JR will stay for a 5 year 30ish million dollar deal with player options.

Although not on our roster the worst contract that we still have on the books is Renaldo Blalkman @ 1.675 Million. But since we are extended beyond the cap that does nothing to hurt us. Best contract goes to our second best leading scorer JR Smith @ 2.8 Million.

Let's hope we do it this year because next year we could lose half our bench to free agency...or retirement.

Brewer is definitely better than a "veteran minimum" role player...

Dude has been a legit defensive player for some good teams. Huge value that we got him as cheap as we did. You can bet we will be trying to figure out a way to keep him.

How this thread lasted this long is mindboggling.

Amare has the worst contract, and no one else is close.

We got a max cat for one half of a season.

Brewer signed on for pennies, that's the best one.

kinda well? he's playing great actually, when you can lockdown the best player in the NBA you're playing more than well

his defense is a big piece to this team and its shown these past 4 games

but I agree JR is needed as well... but brewer has played some game changing defense so far

EDIT: whats weird tho is that teams he's played on always find theyselve on top of the food chain, ... UTA was a top 10 defensive team when he played there with deron.... CHI top east team 2 seasons straight and top 5 defense... and now we're #1 in defense with him here

I have to say Brewer is the best right now. He's playing out of his mind for the min

Worst ill say is Novak. Not because Novak is bad, but he's getting paid a lot to really be just a 3 point specialist. Even though he's nasty at it

Novak's pay is par to the norm of what 3pt specialist make.

Amare has been injured in more than half of the few playoff games we've had.

And both injuries were self inflicted.

    Stop bringing up Amare..

If you read the OP, he specifically asks not to say Amare. Of course he is the worst. We are talking about the next worst contract, so we can have some kind of discussion. 100% of us would say Amare otherwise.

Might agree with Novak. Not that his deal is even bad at all, though. Really, says a lot about the FO right now, that you have to really think about it to come up with a bad contract on the books.

Even Amare's deal, while taken at straight up production/value may be bad, isn't all that terrible when you think about it. Without him, there is no Melo, there is no vets like Kidd and Camby and Prigioni, and there are no bargains like Smith and Brewer. Would also wager Chandler wouldn't have signed here, money or not. So would you still make that deal?

Plus, if you forgot, Amare was playing like an MVP for a while there, and he could still come back and be good. Hell, if he comes back, buys in and at least tries to play D, and gives us another go-to scorer, no telling how good this team could be. And there will always be a point out there to feed him the ball, won't just be dumping him the ball and make him create, which isn't his strength. Plus the fact him and Felton seemed to play well...
